Sideshow looks more like Luke in this one. But I think it's just the shape of the hair and that his eyes aren't in shadow. The photos make them appear remarkably similar, as though Sideshow actually put some paint on his face!

The shot of just the heads the SS one doesn't look too bad, but the shot on the body some characteristics seem to change (those eyebrows!). Still want to see some nicely futzed and better quality shots with the helmet on. Also curious to see the helmet on the HT head sculpt though it seems a bit smaller so not sure if it'll work too well.

Fingers crossed most people continue to prefer the HT by a landslide, I hope to be able to do a swap and pocket some cash - maybe toward a repaint.

Kinda thinking SS looks more like Hamill regardless of paint being better on HT.

I don't understand how different the production Luke head shape is from the proto. Backyard customizers here reproduce their sculpts almost exact. SS should be able as well.

I think that is the same sculpt. The likeness was so dependent upon the paint that it falls apart without it.

Rotten? That is the internet. Rag all over something they like and their tone changes just as fast.

Yeah, that's pretty much my problem. I need a vacation.

I am really curious what the royalty rate is for their licenses. When I had a license through GM, it was 10%. Sideshow and others act like its around 25-30% which is absurd.

I am wondering if the Mouse doesn't expect a certain return from each figure and within that margin, this is the best they can do (whereas Hot Toys can do far more).

Well, at least you're an adult about it.

Call me racist/nationalist to my face and find out just how adult I can be. Why should anyone treat that kind of response with any more respect than you got?

wehl, I was juth thayin....:wink1:

seriously, its because of the barbie doll eyes on the SS sculpt. HT wins in eye area...Eyes are what make or break a sculpt.

The SS eye shape does resemble Hamill's a bit more--he's got those wide kinda alien looking eyes. But from the early shots we've seen the paint detail just isn't there on the SS sculpt. Honestly, his face changes so much throughout the movie that it really seems like one of the toughest likenesses to get down. People say Ford is difficult but Hamill seems like he must be really tough as well.

This isn't even how I really remember him in my mind's eye, but this shows what I meant about the wider eyes, the HT sculpt doesn't seem to showcase that at all.

Hamill is one actor who suits the larger eyes that Sideshow became known for. The Hoth sculpt captures that wide-eyed look.

I think the eyes on the Sideshow seem a bit large and the upper and lower lids are over-defined, making them look a bit odd. Add that to a pretty blah paint job and he just looks a bit sad.

I think the sculpt maybe is more ANH Hamill than the HT, but it's hard to see through the mediocre finish and more obvious hair piece. The HT may not have quite as strong of a likeness, but there's no doubt which one looks more realistic and high-end.

Then you compare the price and what you get the Sideshow figure becomes almost laughable.

Take into consideration that Luke is taking to space with the intention to murder about 2.8 million people...

:lol

Let's take a look at this...

wg's SS v HT Luke sculpt COMP 11-13-15.jpg

I'm actually surprised the SS is as close as it is. It's a very close call...

Neither got the nose right. Both have the mouth right. Only HT got the cleft. The eyes... look dead to me on the SS, wider or not. The hair... well....

I prefer the hair style of the SS hair piece, but it looks more like a hair piece, so that ends up putting it below the HT one. But the HT hair piece vertically elongates Luke's head. Gives him egg head as others have mentioned. Guys let's just admit it, these both stink. :lol $500 saved.

Slightly ajar mouth really works well with Hamill, too bad we haven't seen an attempt since the Bespin sculpt.
