If you were Disney, and you had two companies making the same kind of product, why would you continue to have one sell for less if the other could sell it for more?

Along that line of thinking, if a Kia sportage was priced the same as a range rover....why would you buy the sportage? :dunno

I still think the headsculpt makes this over-priced. In these new photos the body looks okay, the suit looks good, and the helmet -- while not a home run -- is certainly acceptable.

I think the first thing I said was that it was a "good" not "great" figure had it been priced lower. I remain disappointed with the the final showing, but the components are there for a great figure.

In particular, Dave's photos with the helmet on look quite good.

Darklord Dave, is it possible to get a close up pic of the unhelmeted head. Would like to see the eyes, since this was the cause of the uproar that caused the thread to be shut down.

Back in the day of the first Kenner 12" figures I always wanted a pilot Luke. Of all the ANH figures coming out only Chewie was more anticipated than this one for me. I have to say I'm pretty pleased how he turned out.

Looks pretty good, Dave. Outfit looks great (you've futzed it well) and the prtrait looks good from this distance. Really like the stand with the "floor". Hope Sideshow continues that trend. Post more pics please!

Added a Hot Toys Bespin belt. Still need to futz......

Not too thrilled with the head sculpt at all.

Great shots, TK! The belt is a nice touch...

As for the portrait....I don't think it looks bad. It looks on par with the Hoth Luke one to me...maybe a better better w/o those cut-outs for the eyes.

I know a lot of folks are carrying on how much HT's looks "better", but other than the paint apps being the usual excellent ones, it's always the dour expressions on the HT portraits that sort of kill it for me.

The outfit on this one looks great. Thanks for the gallery, TK!

This one looks decent....I'd bite, but it's a little steep for me right now. If it's still around for awhile, I may pick it up,

The sculpt is what kills this figure plain and simple. On a figure that offers so little in every other department the sculpt needed to be a knockout to save it. The outfit is good but the fact that you have to hide the sculpt in the helmet for the figure to look decent or replace the sculpt means I (and I'm sure others) won't justify the purchase until the price drops significantly.

I must be a total moron then, because I'm going to sell the HT ANH sculpt just about as soon as I get it and plan to replace it with this one if a custom doesn't come around before then.

Mine will be here Tuesday. Probably will put a HTs head sculpt on it. Price is too high, but I want that suit and helmet. SS needs to get their **** together on paint apps.

I think you'll find that you're in the minority on that. That's been the biggest criticism of this figure by just about everyone in this thread.

^ Aaaand we have it! The ubiquitous "looks like Tom Cruise" comment. Someone just said the same about the HT figure. [emoji38]

Anyway, Wth Sideshow? I thought we were in a new era. I remember think8ng that when I saw the Deluxe Vader Anak in sculpt. While not HT quality it was still good. Something like how Headplay paint apps look. Then they started making those hideous bug-eyed sculpts. Thankfully the got rid of that now we're back to wonky ass paint. I guess it's good that the sculpt looks to have modern skin texture. So they haven't reverted completely. I think once it's had a repaint this will be a great sculpt.[emoji38]

It looks like a doll of Luke Skywalker at best. If people want to spend hundreds repainting this sculpt to get it even close to the HT's level it just reminds me of the old saying you can't polish a turd.

I don't know. Maybe there is a good sculpt there that's marred by bad paint apps but I don't think it's a lot better than the Hot Toys sculpt that's already well painted. I don't have the skill set to repaint this on my own and won't (and shouldn't have to) commission someone to do it for me. The better option in my view is to get either of the Hot Toys figures which both feature more accessories and great outfits for a lower price than this Sideshow figure.

I'm already selling the Han sculpt that everyone loves - yet go figure, no one's bought it yet.

As with this figure, there's only so many willing to pay a premium for some of these items. Give the Han head 20% off with some double rewards and free shipping and maybe it'll move. ;)

It's better than the Bespin sculpt. Fingers crossed that Jedi is the best.

Your analogy is grossly disproportionate, but yes, I think we have one or two examples here of people thinking this costs too much. Good observation.
