As dumb as it is, I can't get past the $19 shipping. It's a lie, and that's whats sticking in my craw. Is it a $240 figure? $190? That much is subjective. It does not cost $19 to ship this to my house. That much is fact. Hell, make it $260 and call it free shipping, but if you don't care enough to even hide the fact you're jacking it up to cover for future discounts, then fine. I'll wait for the future discounts instead of buying it now. And I would've bought it this weekend at $240 with $10 shipping. Like I said, it's dumb, but I just couldn't pull the trigger now over that extra $9. Just for giggles, I applied my $50-ish dollars in rewards (that went to Vader) to this at checkout just to see, and it still didn't knock it below 2 bills. I know SS couldn't care less, but just the same, it's feedback.

Just buy it from somewhere else then. There are a few places you could get this for $250 shipped.

AP collectibles has it for $235 shipped to CT. Some other place had it for $205 plus shipping a couple weeks ago.

Alter ego has it for $220 plus $7 shipping to CT. Still too much for me. :lol

I might. Perhaps I'll take a chance to see if I can get it through SS when it gets a free shipping discount or something. Don't need this anytime soon. Just eventually. Part of it was venting. Part of that was me patting myself on the back for holding out for a change. To SS, I'm a pimple on a frogs butt. In my living room, I just stuck it to the man big time!

This helmet is really hard to pull apart. The two halves are pretty tight and getting the top off the two halves is a little scary considering the visor, mic and chin strap are all pretty delicate.

Great post.:clap

Anyone seen VST wasteland ranger? Ok it is unlicensed but that is true value for your money. Also that sculpt blows sideshows luke away. Sideshow, please up your game. I still love your troopers and aliens but put more effort in the human characters.

The proto looks great on the VTS wasteland ranger. To be fair at this point, it is a proto though if comparing paint apps.

VTS production has matched prototype in my experience. They're not a shady company like Sideshow. :wink1:

LOL. I hear ya. However, I have the Zombie Killer and it is a good figure. The paint apps are OK, but the sculpt is far from Woody. The clothing is fair. Hat is horrible. But, to your point, it was pretty close to the proto. I favor Hot Toys in my collection, but I wouldn't say SS is shady. Everything I have ever received from them has been pretty close to what I expected, including this. I stayed away from their Hoth from the start, because even the proto's looked like **** IMO.

Kuat, how do you think this Luke figure would look if he was all sweaty? :)

He would look...moist. :lol

I think he looks perfect with the helmet on as is. You can't photograph his face, which is an inherent problem with Sideshow paint, but he looks fine alongside Hot Toys' figures.

Funny you should ask though as my sweaty-faced Stormtrooper Luke arrived a few minutes ago. Haven't open the box yet.

The Zombie Killer is an old figure. I just found out that VTS started a Facebook page last week. They promoted their older figures in their first posts, but started with The Revenger, which was probably their turning point into a leading company.

I have The Revenger and the Weapons Advisor, and the sculpts and paint are excellent.

SS promote their figures with Lalla-painted sculpts, and deliver something quite different. Sometimes they never update their figure pages to reflect the production paintwork. Rook took production photos a while ago, but if you go to the Luke X-Wing page, it's still showing the prototype because they still need to sell him. That's pretty shady.

Unlike HT, Sideshow don't make versatile products. I wouldn't display this Luke without the helmet. And the Hoth figures look far better with the caps on. Without the caps they're passable from certain angles.

In their caps I like them a lot.

Where can I go to see pics ? What is VST?

Got the helmet and suit from TA so have popped the helmet onto one of those recast Luke Bespin eBay heads (distorted, rub-off paint:slap:lol) I inherited from a buddy and the rest is parts bin. I have an extra set of gloved hands from the Marmit ATAT driver I'll be using painted black.

Just put it all together just now, so haven't futzed (chin strap is way off and helmet's sitting high/funky.) Obviously not as good as the full SSC fig, but this will be about $110 out of pocket all up including shipping, which I could afford. I have a DID head on standby as generic pilot if this head doesn't work out.

I missed out on the TA breakdown. Definitely would like to pick up the helmet, suit and boots to make another pilot. Hopefully they breakdown more figures soon.

As for your custom, you'll definitely need to shave down the top of the head for the helmet to look good. The suit isn't filled out as nicely as the SS one, though. Did you skip the padded body suit? I think it makes a big difference on how the figure ends up looking. (If you are using the SS body.)

And thanks for the heads-up on the ebay Luke recast sculpt. Was tempted to pick one up but now will wait for a better alternative.

Yeah this is a nice figure but just not worth the asking price.

I want a Biker Scout, Tie Pilot, and AT-AT Driver as well but I will be waiting on those for sure.

Did the TA Suit breakdown include the chest box and strapping? Thanks.
