Thank you for all the kind words Gentlemen, for just being my second full on sculpt EVER you guys have really helped. I did some minor changes again haha, cheek bones are not as pronounced now and I lifted hair line a bit and at last fixed the lips, please excuse the dark coloration on the sculpt especially the lips it is due to the wax changing color on me :) well here is a quick snap at the sculpt now

Oh and the sculpt has very light stubble, only reason I couldnt go heavy is because Riggs doesnt really have much facial hair, but with the right painting, the appearance can be changed, trust me :)

Looking great. I wish there was more definition and polish to the hair work. The likeness is very nice, though.

And, here's the Gas Can in it's pre-casting form. It's not 100% accurate in the design on the sides as this was based on an existing can. The top is where the modifications are. Once cast, we'll update the handle a bit, and drill out the spout hole. This will be a solid cast though, so you can't put any gas into it. There is no cap, there weren't any in the movie as he used rags to stuff the hole. We will probably include some scale rags.

and that will give it a bit more heft as well. looks great so far.

Question for all you Max fans. If we were to commission a sculpt of Max's Blue Heeler dog, we'd like to know a few things. This is assuming it will be a solid cast, unpainted dog with no articulation.

  1. First, what would you expect to pay?
  2. What pose would you want him in (Standing, Sitting, Walking, etc.)?
  3. Open or closed mouth?
  4. Would you want the Bandana sculpted or offered separately?
This is not to say that we are for sure going to do it, but we're looking into it. Thanks!

1, ? (not sure)
2. walking
3. closed mouth
4. bandanna offered separately (cloth would look better IMHO)

I'm in agreement with the walking, closed mouth, and no sculpted bandana. Price, I dunno. Judging by the cost of the Griswold sculpt, I'm anticipating being able to get everything for Max without too much sacrifice. Toy Anxiety has never overcharged. :wink1:

1.) I think that a one piece molded 1/6 scale dog for Max shouldn't be more than $10.00. :dunno Just my opinion, or "two cents" on that.

2.) I would want my Max dog walking straight ahead. So that I can pose him walking alongside Max in that iconic picture from The Road Warrior with them walking on the road side by side.

3.) I'd prefer the dog's mouth to be closed.

4.) I think a red cloth offered seperately, but offered with the dog would be great. It would also make the dog more authentic to as he was in the movie. Max later wore the red cloth from his dog on one of his arms in the movie after the dog was killed.

Toy Anxiety I think making a cast of Max's dog would be GREAT! I know that if it was offered that fans of The Road Warrior and Mad Max would buy it. Like me! :)

I am really suprised to see you guys making a gas can. The dog food can is an unexpected suprise too!

Before this thread was started I had already started on a custom Mad Max from The Road Warrior figure with board member BillyB. I got the Sideshow Terminator 2 T-800 black biker outfit, and then a special shoulder pad from BillyB. BillyB used to make a great leg cast for Max. I'm not sure if he makes them anymore. I hope he does! Toy Anxiety do you have any future plans on making other parts to Max's outfit like the leg cast, or any of his tools like the small shovel he carries on his back of his belt? I think the binoculars would be a nice addition to his outfit too. He used them more than the one time he ate from the dog food can. Just my thoughts here. :wave

By the way, I got a lot of supplies from your online store last night for a custom John Marston figure from the great "Red Dead Redemption" video game last night Toy Anxiety! It looks like many parts from the "Inglorious Basterds" Aldo Raine you guys parted out are going to work out great for my custom John Marston! :clap

Did I miss ordering for the head somehow ???
I wouldnt want to miss out on the "set" of accessories

A quality solid cast dog is gonna be more than $10. My guess would be more like $25-$30 range. I know its just a dog, but it still requires the hard work of a sculptor and being solid cast will require more material than a head sculpt.

The Mad Max head sculpt from The Road Warrior is not for sale...yet. Toy Anxiety has said in this thread earlier that it would be offered for sale on their website as the "wastelander" head sculpt. The casting should be finished soon, and then the heads will be posted on their site. :)

Okay, that's fine if it does cost that. I would gladly pay that much if it was a "quality" casted dog that I thought was worth the expense of that much money. It would be such a great addition to go with Max! I guess the next perfect item for me would be Max's awesome black "last of the V-8 Interceptors" police car in 1/6 scale! Hey, it can be done! Hot Toys has made a 1/6 scale "tumbler" aka "Batmobile" already. :wink1:

To recap for newbies to the thread, we intend to provide as much of the accessories as we can, but probably not all of them, and they will be in kit form needing paint and minor cleanup. As previously listed, we are planning the following, and you can go back through the thread to see some pics if you want.

1. Dinky-Di Can (sculpted can with printed label)
2. Gas Cans w/ Pole & Rags (modified existing gas can)
3. Shotgun (Modified ZC World Shotgun)
4. Leg Brace (Still working this one out)
5. Shoulder Pad (Has not been developed yet)

Anything beyond this list, we have not begun to think about, and may not do. I can say we will not be providing any of the outfit (jacket, pants, boots, belt) or body (nude, hands, feet).

We hope (crossing fingers) to have heads as early as next week, but in reality, probably the following week. I was told by my caster that the mold was curing yesterday.

If all we'd get for the dog were $10 bucks, we won't be doing it. It is correct that we will have to pay a sculptor just as much to sculpt a dog as we would to sculpt a head, if not more. That plus there's more resin in the casting, so you can bet it would be at least $30. We will be talking to a local "professional" sculpting couple this weekend about working with them on this and other general 1:6 accessories, but since they are already working in the industry, they aren't likely to be affordable for us at this time. We shall see how the meeting goes, and will post here as soon as we know something.

I am wise :lecture

Aside from the amount of resin, casting a four-legged animal is much more complex than casting a head. Just figuring out pour channels and escapes for air...these things may have to be poured in pieces and assembled, if the pose is going to be lifelike. The sculptors will know.

Will not be pursuing a commission on Max's dog at this point. It's on the costlier side to get this one done, so I'll have to put this on the back burner. I may give a shot at sculpting it myself, but no guarantees at this time.

Okay. Well, maybe we'll get it later on "down the road". Now I think we're pretty good off with the great Max head sculpt, the "Dinky Di" dog food can, the shotgun with 2 shells, the gas cans and pole so far. :yess: Also the possibility of the shoulder pad, and the leg brace sounds promising too! Thank you Toy Anxiety!

I live in Broken Hill, the town where they filmed Mad Max 2 in 1981 and currently filming Mad Max 4. If anyone wants some origydig red dirt from out here let me know we can easily work something out to get you some. And if you want some NEVER before seen pictures of the filming of MM2 from local private photo albums I could get them too.
