Re: Mad max: Fury road trailer

did not expect to like it as much as i did. not even a huge fan of action movies, but this was a really really great film. just really fun and entertaining to watch :)

Watched it for the first time last night since seeing it in a commercial theatre. I can't believe how breathtaking the first 30 minutes are, it went by so fast.

:clap

The cinematography is extraordinary. After years of MCU and its preposterous CGI stunts, you forget what an impact striking shots and camera movement can have on an action movie.

:nono

Now now Mr. Wor, the action in TWS is nothing to sneeze at.

Yes, but its cuts. Fast cuts. That movie is made editorially.

FR has beautiful frames, perfect shots, choreographed and timed. Especially with such deep expanses... its a whole different feel. Just look at anytime the truck rumbles up to frame, how it is positioned relative to the desert. Artistry. Spielberg used to be like that. David Lean.

Found this concept art by Christopher Shy.

I do notice that, every time. Frame composition is gorgeous from beginning to end. The post-production coloring is definitely a factor but otherwise it's all production design, shot composition, and real world locations.

TWS still impressed me more with the action set pieces regardless that it lacked Lawrence of Arabia vistas. :lol

I love that poster. Everyone looks bad ass. Even 3PO.

yup

:lol

See above. :lol

I don't fault TWS' action sequences in any way. A desert chase in a straight line will always lend itself to more panoramic shots than cars and people dodging around skyscrapers. TWS was a throwback to The French Connection and it's a given that the action would rely heavily on precision editing.

How enjoyable is this movie if you never were a fan or cared about the other three? I have watched the other three all my life here and there but they really never grabbed me. I'm not saying i hate these movies there just not my thing. So when Fury Road trailer first appeared I just didn't care. Will Fury Road make me a fan?

Only you will be able to answer that.

I'm still working on trying to figure out the big praise for FR, not quite there yet. :lol

I like Mad Max 1, but I love Road Warrior.

I consider Road Warrior one of the best action movies ever made, up there with the best.

Where the action in Road Warrior served a purpose, in Fury Road it's to say look at us everyone we have guys on mini bikes doing jumps off dirt ramps because you know, practical.

Great looking and sounding villain who is given even less to do than Marvel villains!

I have actually warmed up to FR, I hated it after my first viewing.

Thunderdome is crap. :lol
