"Anyone could be Mad Max . . . that was the point."

Speaking of anyone being Max, I just don't see how Ledger would have pulled off the role in Fury Road. I guess his death was TDKR's loss and FR's gain.

As for the movie as it stands, he clearly wasn't the Feral Kid. In the opening voice over he says he was a cop then a road warrior. If that doesn't describe Mel's original path I don't know what does. Plus the opening credits list him as "Max Rockatansky" not some generic "Mad Max" that anyone can be.

I agree with DF about watering down the character, but I could also see the FK wanting to be MM.

But if GM had made him be the FK, the title of the movie should've been different while still including the Fury part which is about Furiosa's well traveled road, her escape plan and the Fury she brought upon herself.

Maybe just Mad and the Furious. :lol

Yeah, exactly Khev.

In my mind, my interpretation, this Fury Road Max experienced the same things the original Gibson Max experienced. Would have been nice to see Gibson return (he would have been awesome in this), but obviously that just couldn't happen. Hardy is a fine replacement in my opinion. I enjoyed seeing his portrayal and can picture him going through the same ordeals the Gibson Max went through (original to Road Warrior to Thunderdome). There's a lot of adventures to be had in a post-apocalyptic world apparently and the wandering Max is the perfect vessel to depict them.

Well, really just insane car chases is all that really happens in the Wasteland. Maybe that's why its called the Wasteland? Hmmmmm.... theory?

Maybe by Wasteland, the world will be completely depleted of gasoline! No more car action sequences!

What if the Feral Kid actually learned how to use time travel between movies and sent Max back in time to his younger body? Furiosa is actually Tina Turner because as we all know, time travel now changes your race.

Well, Furiosa was just like Max, the movie even ended with her having the same exact swollen eye as Max from RW.

So if the hate is for others being him, well, too late for that. :lol

Their vehicles could run like the Flintsones... with names like The Trampler.

:lol :lol

You love this film so much Jye...I can tell...just like TDKR...

Inaccurate.

I actually like this movie quite a bit.

Only thing I didn't enjoy was the guitar dude.

I would've liked to have seen IJ and the warrior women do more, especially IJ.

Other than that, i'm good with it.

WB couldn't have made a worse follow up to TDK had they tried.

FR is a massive improvement from BT.

Your logic is flawed! :lol

OK man, I'm gonna say it - stop abbreviating all movie names and character names! It genuinely is difficult to know what you're referring to at times. :lol

Sorry a-d

:lol

He even abbreviated my name.

Jye lost his mind.

I did, didn't I. :lol

Always fun to theorise, but the prequel comics - love 'em or loathe 'em - are written by Miller and confirm this is the same Max as in the other movies.

I quoth:

Max. The warrior Max. Haunted by his past and fated to wander the brutal Wasteland in search of his better self. To do so, Max Rockatansky enters Gastown, the only source of guzzoline for thousands of miles. Here he finds the final piece that he needs to rebuild his Interceptor – the powerful Boss 351 engine. But in order to acquire the fabled V8 in a world where car parts are worth more than a man’s life, Max must survive a gladiatorial battle in a place called…Thunderdome Plus!
From the mind of George Miller, the creator of the Mad Max trilogy, the prelude series to the upcoming film Mad Max: Fury Road continues in its penultimate issue!
