That B&W trailer is just someone's example (a simple "convert to black/white" button click). If we get an actual B&W version on blu-ray, I'm sure it will be a proper remastering, with each scene processed (contrast/saturation) to best effect.

Not bad:

In other holdover news Mad Max: Fury Road proved it may have the stamina it needs to be considered a success. With an impressive second week drop of only -47%, the film took in $38.2m domestically. Internationally it zoomed past the $100M mark with $124.3M, bringing the worldwide gross to $212M.

Meanwhile, Pitch Perfect 2 may have held the 2nd berth but its domestic take dropped 56% WOW. The musical/comedy might be keeping just ahead of Max in the States but its international cume is lagging at $187.1M. Then again, it didn't cost over $150M either.

We also can't forget Avengers: Age of Ultron. The Marvel/Disney film crossed $200M in China. It's also expected to cross the $400M mark here domestically and is the only film to do that so far this year. Internationally the film will cross the $800M threshhold for a $1.2B worldwide take. It still has to keep going to eclipse Furious 7's $1.5B worldwide gross, which is seems likely to do.

Great read though.

CNN thinks men are evil too, todays headline says so:

(CNN)Just when it seems the horror can grow no deeper, ISIS shows that man's capacity for cruelty knows no bounds.

Crap, being male I guess i'm also destined to chop off heads. Now that I think about it, I did cut off a head of lettuce yesterday! :horror

A thoughtful defense of criticisms by misguided feminists, who don't seem to understand how film works as a medium of artistic expression and entertainment:

Righteous Fury: In Praise of Peaceful Notions In Violent Movies « The Life and Art of Vern

Okay that was actually a great read.

"They’re not, but there is hope for the next generation to turn things around. The woman, called The Keeper of the Seeds, passes on her secret stash of heirloom seeds. The Wives transport this bag and it represents their belief in the possibility of a better world, a hope that no one in the original MAD MAX trilogy ever harbored. And at the end of the movie we have good reason to believe they’re going to be able to grow those seeds."

I think the above quote is one of the key reasons I like this Mad Max best of all. The "victory" achieved really feels like it meant something, rather than just revenge or helping some people escape some bad guys just so they can live somewhere else that isn't much better. I'm sure some people would therefore find this film to be "softer" than its predecessors but I just love taking this world and exploring more universal themes of classic fantasy and storytelling. Max has become more Paul Muad'dib than Charles Bronson but it's a proper evolution of the character, IMO.

The series would be very stale if he was nothing more than a post-Apocalyptic Punisher.

Gosh I want figures and PF's from this movie so bad. HT Max, Furiosa, Joe, I'd probably take a Nux w/goggles too. Gentle Giant statues, etc. :gah:

*So* many accessories and headsculpts HT could load these figures with. Furiosa with black make-up, no make-up, bandana, etc. All of her weapons, flare guns, you name it.

Max with a freaking musket. So many options they could give.

Production Designer Colin Gibson speaks to their approach on creating the 2015 version of the apocalypse:

The Frame | 'Mad Max: Fury Road': How 15 years of design made 'the last real action film' | 89.3 KPCC

Interestingly enough the V8 Interceptor was only a five year old car (a 1974 XB Ford Falcon Coupe) when they made the original MM but he addresses why we don't see any 2010 vehicles in Fury Road:

While "Fury Road" has a lot of cool cars, you won't see many current vehicles. The Camry and the Prius don't look to have a ton of appeal after the apocalypse. Gibson says there were three reasons for that.

"George said everything had to earn its right to exist in our universe. And frankly, carbon-fiber bodies don't lend themselves to battle so well. The computer chip makes almost all modern vehicles fairly useless, whereas a decent, grunty V8 you can fix with a stick and a torn pair of pantyhose. And thirdly, I can't see anybody going to the trouble of schlepping a Camry halfway across the wasteland and salvaging it. So it didn't pass the beauty process. Which is not to say that come a prequel or sequel the Prius wouldn't make a proud entrance."

Humans won't truly be free, content and in harmony until we're all allowed to embrace what we were all engineered for, hatred and destruction of ourselves.

Hurry up with the WW3 world leaders, I want to drive a V8 in the Manhattan desert.

Let me send this statement to that feminist author, this should make her day. :lol

Guess they missed Tina Turner running Bartertown. :lol

Are there any colored people in Australia?

Won't make a difference for that author because she said violence begets violence regardless if coming from women of authority.

Nothing will make that woman happy, glad she's not my wife. :lol
