IJ didn't run her over on purpose, she fell under his wheels, he was traumitized when it happened.

He was traumatized because he thought he lost some property. Then *when the pregnant chick that got run over by a monster truck somehow survived* he didn't blink an eye over having her immediately killed.

And I like little suggestions about things like IJ's army medals but yeah, I don't ever want it spelled out.

War Boys: created a functional, if utterly brutal and inhumane, society with industry, agriculture and running water.

Vuvalini: failed to maintain a natural oasis, number a handful.

The message I took from this is that a battle of the sexes benefits no-one. The male-dominated society gets **** done at a terrible cost, the female-dominated society simply survives at an absolute baseline. Men and women need each other, accepting and tolerant of each other's differences, to create a harmonious, functional civilization.

Awesome post. We see both gender attempt a civilisation and both fail in different ways proving like you said that together is the only way

Thanos... another villain waiting with thunderously grumbled dialogue and not much of a punch. They picked the wrong actor to voice him. Time will tell.

All he's done is sit on his ass so far. By the time he does anything he'll have been hyped for so long that it'll be underwhelming

Wez's ass cheeks alone trump most villains.

"You... and your little dog too."

Oh man, this post just made my night. :lol

That's what I'm afraid of. Expectation kills everything.

I mean, what can they really do with him? Is he a fighter -- so what? He'll have flying CGI fights like every other MCU villain. Will he grow huge and stomp over New York in Godzilla size? So what -- seems like almost all MCU villains grow for some reason in the final act. So what's left for this purple dude in the rock chair?

And Thanos sucks because Marvel keeps force-feeding him to directors who don't want him. James Gunn had Ronan kill Thanos' henchman right in front of him because he didn't want the villain of a film that hasn't even been made yet to trump HIS villain. Whedon famously hated the Infinity War foreshadowing and sure didn't go out of his way to make the upcoming threat seem cool.

It'll be up to the Russos to take this unwelcome guy and make him into something fierce.

Thanks. To expand on that slightly, I also think Max and Furiosa's relationship dynamic is a microcosm of the same broad concept. They start out completely at odds with one another and both fail in their own ways as a result. Only when they build a functional, mutually-trusting relationship do they actually get things done. The prime example of this is
Max acting as a human tripod to give Furiosa a clear shot at the Bullet Farmer. Although he's the one (off-camera) who eventually kills them all, he knows Furiosa is the better shot with the rifle and it's better to defer to her in that instant to get the job done, i.e. taking out the searchlight so he can get a clear approach.

So apparently we're getting a black and white version of th r movie included with the blu ray release. Miller demanded it as well as the option to watch the movie with just the isolated score.

The only thing good about it is the Russos... at least I hope so. I can think of another set of bros that went AWOL after one absolutely amazing movie.

No doubt,

But Speed Racer sure looks pretty on my TV. :lol

Wait, wut!

That's weird, but I did notice a lot of black-and-white in the film, so now I understand a little more what he saw.

I don't think it will play as strongly in just B/W though. Those grimy dirt and rust tones would be sorely missed.

Indeed. :lol

I like that. Max did not "save" the girls. He did his part in kicking ass when needed but if Furiosa didn't stop IJ from blocking the War Rig and commandeer it so everyone (save Nux) could escape off the rig then all would have lost.

Holy crap, you're right, the news is all over the place. And it's GM's preferred presentation of the film??? :google

“We spent a lot of time in DI (digital intermediate), and we had a very fine colorist, Eric Whipp. One thing I’ve noticed is that the default position for everyone is to de-saturate post-apocalyptic movies. There’s only two ways to go, make them black and white — the best version of this movie is black and white, but people reserve that for art movies now. The other version is to really go all-out on the color. The usual teal and orange thing? That’s all the colors we had to work with. The desert’s orange and the sky is teal, and we either could de-saturate it, or crank it up, to differentiate the movie. Plus, it can get really tiring watching this dull, de-saturated color, unless you go all the way out and make it black and white.”

‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ Blu-ray to Include Black & White Cut; The ‘Best Version’

The color version is so beautiful but I'll have to check it out on GM's say so.

His explanation is wild.

He compromised from his black and white vision by amping up the colors so that he wasn't the same as all other desaturated post apocalypse movies.

His desaturated RW was what started it all.

Dude is a genius. :lol

The more I think about the contrast -- the natural contrast of the landscape -- and the white-painted war boys and the black-clad gas city boys and all the rest -- I really am starting to like the B/W angle. Eager to see it that way now.

If I could only have 1 version though, it would absolutely need to be the color version.
