I'm happy that this stuff didn't exist in 1978-1980 for GM to use:

And that is why Road Warrior doesn't have any shots of Mel Gibson hanging upside down outside the tanker.:monkey2 Just shots of him safe and sound in the cab.

The stuntmen in MM and RW were nuts but that technology is why we can have close-ups of guys like Hardy and Tom Cruise doing crazy stuff like that.

But TH is simply hanging upside down on cables on a parked truck. :lol

The desert under him moving at 100mph was cgi. :lol

But you're right, nice closeup. :lol

Regarding Mel, RW action > FR action even without that closeup.

I do like in FR when the rig pushed up the dirt to put out the fire.

Are you sure? I thought the parked Rig was a rehearsal. I know they did the pole-vaulting scenes parked first and then again in motion. If it was never moving then obviously you're correct in that it wasn't much of a stunt though I suppose if he did fall it could have still resulted in a snapped neck.

Still Not Sure About Mad Max: Fury Road? Read This. - Dorkly Post

These tweets cracked me up too:

"I wish the screening of FURY ROAD that I went to was preceded solely by trailers for FURY ROAD."

"Doctors warn that if you maintain an erection for longer than four hours, you should stop watching FURY ROAD."

"I think it's easier to be a Cosby apologist than someone who didn't like Fury Road."

I do think the praise being given out on the making of this movie is missing the point that there was a huge studio behind this, not just GM and his cousins. :lol

Yes, nice that they went as practical as possibly allowed by the insurance companies, but the notion that this movie was made like the old ones and was a miracle to the finish line is simply not accurate.

But you can keep telling yourselves that this movie was made different than AOU, as if AOU didn't have stunt men on cables. :lol

What's going on jye? :lol Why are you refuting claims that no one is making? No one has said this was made by GM and his cousins or that stuntmen were hospitalized after flying into cardboard boxes. We're celebrating the quality of the movie itself, the almost 100% location shoot, and the fact that the stunts were *practical,* not without modern safety technology.

If Road Warrior is *only* special because some of the stunts were unsafe then that's kind of a diss on the movie itself don't you think? These are two hour films and the amount of life threatening stunts in MM and RW only resulted in a combined minute or two of footage. So while it's an awesome "yeah those stuntment were insane" or "badasses" talking point I don't think that bit alone trumps the grandeur of action filmmaking on display in FR. But still, having said that both MM and RW are classics and I think you're allowed to prefer those without being threatened by the fact that some of us prefer Fury Road. ;)

Hell I think that the Max quadrilogy is one of the strongest series' around. *Thunderdome* is even surprisingly cool if you can forgive the PG nature of it all.

Max was better than Age of Hulk, Jye. Just say it!

Let the healing begin, and I myself will carry you to the gates of Valhalla!
