Boston is on fire, no 2 ways about it. At least the beating they put on NY looks to have sparked our play - winning 6 of the last 7 and sweeping the Rangers :rock

Pujols out for 4-6. Will be interesting to see if Holliday and Berkman can continue to carry the offense for that stretch. Milwakee is playing well. That division is up for grabs.

Fractured left forearm - ouchies. :monkey1

Brewers just got whooped by Boston so maybe they'll slow down a little bit.

Sucks to lose him for that time but we've got the bats to keep going. Just gotta make it through.

The good - if there was going to be a break in the arm, that may have been the best place to have it. If it would have been the wrist, you're looking at displaced and out for the entire year and then some.

Also, Freese and Craig both coming back soon. Should be enough to plug the hole until Pujols is back.

The bad - not sure if you caught this, but it sounds like they only performed a CT scan and not an MRI. The quote from the PD was that "The team said in a news release that Pujols' shoulder is sore, but no structural damage was found "at this time." Guess they don't remember 2005 all that well. :slap

The Cards will remain in the thick of things - even with Pujols out. The funny thing is, they were supposed to be nowhere NEAR the top of the division at the start of the season and that was with a healthy rotation.

Most analysts said the Cards would finish near the bottom of the division with Waino out.

But Duncan is God. The line-up persevered, and if not for a horrid bullpen, the Cards would have the best record in the league.

What analyst picked the Cards to fiinish near the bottom of the division that boasts power houses like the Pirates, Cubs, and Astros?

Agreed. Most people thought Berkman was washed up, too. You can never count a guy like that out, especially coming back into the Central with a 1yr deal.

If Dunc doesn't get into the HOF I'll be shocked, especially with the guys off the scrap heap he's been given to turn around.

All that said I still don't see the Cards being major players in the postseason. Philly versus the Sox or Yanks in the WS.

You never know what will happen in the postseason. The Cards will have the offense, and the 2004 team got to the WS with no pitcher winning over 15 games in the regular season and Suppan leading the staff. :lol

EDIT - forgot that Suppan had 16 wins. lol

True but Philly has such a great starting rotation that in the NL there really isn't a bad match up for them.
