Ton of money. Probably spread over 20 or 30 years.

Cards should have dealt Matt Holliday so they could boost the offer, but I'm sure they'll be fine. Maybe go after Fielder now?

be interesting to see what kind of contract Fielder gets..apparently teams won't go the 7 or 8 years he and Boras want

Guess we know now that him talking about staying in st. L. Was a lie, thirty million over nine years thats a few million a year. That's pocket change to him.

Yeah, Fielder needs to be AL bound, IMO because his glove will only get worse.

STL fans should probably be thankful Pujols didn't go to the Cubs.

Cardinals would have been fools to keep him for 10 years with that much money. I would be surpsrised if Pujols puts up great numbers for half his contract. Signing a guy that old for that long is insane imo.

Sad to lose him but we can't do that kind of money especially for someone who won't be able to play 1b in 10 years. I expect the cards to go after fielder now.

I don't think at the time the Holliday trade hurt. It was Pujols who was _____ing about the lack of a hitter behind him and threatening to leave if they didn't improve. So they traded for Holliday and then extended him. The problem was Pujols didn't follow through with his end. They really should have pressured him to resign a year ago.

Anyway, STL will be happy with 2 WS wins.

So what happened Josh?

Well, I've heard a bit that he wasn't happy with management on some things. Stuff like the hiring of matheny, the fact they gave him the offer they did before the season, etc. Stupid stuff like that really. In the end he was a liar really with all his talk here and in St. Louis about what the town, the community, and being a cardinal for life meant to him.

Thanks for the info. Although this will hurt, knowing the Cards organization, they'll be competitive next year. Besides, you got 2 championships out of him and not many teams can say that.
