I kid. Amazing how long and how many great pitchers the Mets went through before it happened.

Being a Met fan... I will admit that Beltran's shot was a hit but...

Bad calls are part of the game and "officially" Santana did pitch a no hitter. I'm happy about that.

R. A. Dickey with a complete game shut out! Great two games for the Mets.

I hope the magic is back!

Due to the new rules in regards to signing bonuses, perhaps the Padres used/wasted this pic on someone who they knew wouldn't sign so that more of the bonus money can go to players drafted whom they have full intention of keeping in their organization.

....Aaand the Twins select outfielder Byron Buxton as the #2 pick in the 2012 baseball draft. Many scouting services had him rated as the best overall player in the draft.

We shall see. Most of these guys never make it to the big leagues. Trouble with baseball is that you don't see immediate production from these guys unlike the other major sports. If he makes it, it will be 2-3 years down the road.

The Twins and no team for that matter can afford to miss when you choose that high.

I don't think thats a "trouble" at all. Sure it stinks to wait, but the good news is that they aren't wasting a precious roster spot before they are truly ready, unlike in basketball where the only way for them to improve is to get worked by pros.

You took the word "trouble" literally. :wink1:

You need to see the context of the post. It's the whole wait and see approach for a player that may never make it for a team that needs help.

I do believe a top 10 pick qualifies as a spot on the overall 40 man protected roster. I may be wrong on that though.

woohoo for Matty Cain, first perfect game in SF history :woo. Giants are quietly having a solid season, hope Timmy can get right by the time the postseason starts.

This is the second time in three years there have been two perfect games in the same season — before that, the only other time it happened was in 1880.

It's going to be one strange and crazy year for baseball.

If the Cubs somehow claw their way back to win the World Series this year, you know the end is near. :lol
