I have to hand it to Cub fans, they seem to be a pretty upbeat and happy bunch despite not winning in over 100 years.

Red Sox fans were miserable and whiny and continue to be so. I think it's just a New England thing.:lol

It's the Budweiser. :lecture:lol

Cub fans are good people.
Sure you have some obnoxious dbags here and there (like all teams), but most Cub fans are willing to at least poke fun at the situation.

I hope they can pull it off someday soon, even if it does possibly bring the end of the world.
One thing for sure...this town would go up for grabs! :lol

That might be true but let's face it, nothing will top the last day of the regular season last year. :thud:

Or Game 6 of the World Series! :yess:

They might be able to at least meet the bar with the one-game playoff round this year, but man, if I was a player and I busted my butt to make it into the playoffs, and then one game ends it all?!!? :monkey4

It'll be the situation like 2001 (102 win A's-85 win Twins) would have given where people will cry foul about this new one game playoff. The easy answer is just win the division, but losing everything in 1 game will suck for 2 teams from here on.

Oh, man, I forgot about that!

You're right about the division. It just seems to diminish the Wild Card, which I thought had brought baseball back from the dead.

I wanted to ask TLR about it (since he was in favor of the 1-game playoff) in January, but I didn't have the cojones.

What happened to Walters?
I always thought that guy would pan out somehow with the Cards, but now it sounds like he's headed to the DL for your Twinkies?!!?

Yeah, looks like a stiff shoulder.

Twins can hit and have a decent bullpen. But man oh man, the starting pitching except Diamond. If we had a couple of starters who could go 6 innings and give up 3 runs. :slap

Having Pavano back at 100% health would be nice.

Just have to wonder if that will happen this year, though. :(

Those don't go together. Back in his Yankee days his teammates called being injured the 15 day Pavano.

Tell you what would have been better. If we hadn't lost our best starter for the year. May I present to you.....

Scott Baker. :(

Yeah, I didn't count him since he's gone for the year.
I'm just looking at what pieces are still left that could contribute.

Someone else HAS to step up besides Diamond (which is just unreal, btw).

:rotfl

Sounds like a moldy sandwich.

Yeah, I'm glad the Cards didn't take a flier on the guy.
I mean, wth, though, he's a MLB player?!!? Get some balls, suck it up and pitch!

Actually he's been durable and has been a great fit with the Twins. He's pitched well for us. Obviously your opinion is based on the period he spent with the Yanks, which I'll admit was an injury plagued debacle.

Yep, the hardest thing to find in baseball is that elusive good starting pitching. :lol

I'm still scratching my head for giving $3 million to Jason Marquis. :gah:

Yeah, you're right. Looking at his IP in '10 (221) and '11 (222) he has pitched quite a bit. He hasn't seen numbers like that since his days as a Marlin. However, for me he'll always be that guy that the Sox thankfully didn't sign and the Yankees paid $38 million.:)

I may be mistaken but that was $38 million for like 16 wins. Yikes! :lol

EDIT: Isn't Boston on the hook for some bad contracts that Theo left with them?
