There is quite a bit of speculation that Lester has been pitching hurt for a few weeks now. There's also the issue of the disappearance of his cutter. That was his bread and butter for a few years and now all of a sudden he's not throwing it.

As for Beckett, no one really knows, and he doesn't talk to the media. The guy really has shown himself to be a complete _______ in the last 2 years. It's too bad that he feels like just going through the motions because as far as talent on this pitching staff, I don't think there's anyone with more.
