Re: The Man of Steel

Not sure how accurate this is but from IMDB trivia

From what i understand of a Producers role is that he or she is responsible for hiring people for the production, from casting director, grips, camera operators, writers or director or Bagel hander-out-er, and those hired are the ones who handle the creative apsects.

Since Nolan and Goyer developed the story he does hold a part in the creative side, but not as much as the screenplay writer of director. That's the issue, people are placing Nolan above Snyder on the creative side when that's almost certaintly not the case

A Films creative side is widely known as a hierarchy of Creators > Directors > Writers > Producers

Man of Steel is no different, the producer just happens to have HATERS.

:dunno We're still discussing this?..........

No one is placing Nolan above Snyder on the "creative" side. It's just frustrating when you act like Nolan has absolutely nothing to do with this project, which we all know is not the case.

Nolan might not have been the right choice for Superman, but he is without a doubt the better Director. -FACT

Inversely, it's annoying as **** when the Nolancompoops continue to troll this thread acting like the only reason this has any chance of being great is because Nolan's involved.

True. But it's also annoying as sh** when noobs like Nova act like being a Producer and Writer is no big deal. :lol

Re: The Man of Steel

Chris: 'Gotta run, I'm off to make the The Dark Knight Rises.'

Zack: 'Awesome! Don't F it up!'
Too bad Chris didn't listen to his bud in this case :(

I kid! Rises coulda been worse. Though oddly, I've felt no strong impulse to watch it again since seeing it the first time.

Chris: 'It made a billion dollars and got Positive reviews, no big deal.'

Zach: 'Have you seen Suckerpunch?'

When was that said? This whole argument has been about Nolan actually being involved in this movie. Nova's last post was actually a great one. It lists all the major roles of filmmaking and Nolan holds two of those roles. He just proved the point we had all been arguing with him without meaning to.

Anytime Nolan's name is brought up, you throw a hissy fit and call people a Nolancompoops and pole squatters. I will admit, I'm curious to see this because Nolan is credited with the story, but not once did I say that if it's awesome it's because of Nolan. If anything, my posts have given Snyder the ultimate credit as IrishJedi pointed out director's receive but Nolan's name is still attached to this. So of course he's going to get credit (or blame) whether you want him to or not.

I am going to attack Nolan's choice as producer of hiring Hans Zimmer for this. Or at the very least for not dictating that the John Williams score should be in this in some capacity. That is Superman. That should be in this.

That's cool. We're all entitled to our opinions.*

*Nolan pole-squatter

Brilliant impersonation of Nam. What you have in the quote box is all Nam sees when he reads things on the internet. It's not as much of people bringing up Nolan to praise him around here but also to bash him. Quite frankly, I don't know anywhere else on the web (or in the real world) that loves/hates the guy as much as the community here does.

Because apparently I made up this slobberjob of a post:
Personally, the most important credits for me are story writers and screenwriters. When I see a movie I really like, I seek out more movies written by the person(s) responsible. I'm a Nolan fan because he's not just a director. He's a filmmaker. A film auteur. Much like Alfred Hitchcock in that sense. He also has integrity and doesn't give into fads and studio demands. He does what he wants and makes movies he wants to make. He hasn't become a sellout yet like many other great directors of the past (Lucas, Cameron, Jackson, etc). Will that day come? Maybe. Hopefully not though. I don't think Hitchcock or Kubrick, despite having some bad movies in their repertoire, ever became sellouts or hacks.

Though I will admit that to me, it reads more like this:
I'm not usually into manlove, but I must admit that if I were to ever have the chance to meet Nolan in person (not for my lack of trying with thousands of fan letters and millions of emails and assuming he forgives and forgets the peeping tom incident and drops the charges and cancels the restraining order), I'd be down. I'd even go so far as to dress up like a pantyless school girl complete with pippy longstockings wig and little pink dress and I'd turn away from him and fake having to tie my shoe just as he walks up. "OOPSIE!"

^ true, but that doesn't say "the *th film by Quentin Tarrantino" it says 'presents' which usually 'means has a hand in' while the former means he made the film.

He did that with one movie. Just one. and only one.
