Re: The Man of Steel/Nolan's Superman

When C. Nolan got Batman Begins his highest budget calling card was Memento. Singer has Usual Suspects and Apt Pupil before he got X-Men. I don't think WB would have a problem putting J. Nolan in the directing chair for Superman knowing that his brother would be backstopping him.

Re: The Man of Steel/Nolan's Superman

... And now, DC is firing his lawyer in the DC/Siegel dispute!!!

God, I wish DC will lose his right to the character! It's time it went into the hands of people that care! They've been sacrificing that character since the 1989 Batman was released! In the meantime, Marvel hits us with movie adaptation of their icons on almost a yearly basis!

These guys are morons!...

And most of those are mediocre at best. . .

True!!!

Yet they continue! As for DC, a mitigated success with a not so bad movie as Superman Returns (dark enough if you ask me, no need for a darker Supes, let him kick some ass now!)is enough to send the character in the limbos.
The present rumors, substanciated or not, remind me of all those rumors that preceded Returns! I don't know how these guys think, but certainly not with their brains! :(

True! here are the list of Marvel movies:

The Good:
- X-MEN
- X2

- Hulk 2
- Iron Man
- Blade

The Bad:
- Fantastic Four #1
- Fantastic Four #2
- Daredevil (i liked this one, but i have to admit it belongs here)
- X-MEN 3 (after watching 1 and 2 this one looks weird, its just me)
- The Punisher
- The Hulk (i liked this one but the end sucks!)
- Blade #2
- Blade #3

The Ugly:
- Spiderman #2
- Spiderman #3
- Wolverine (this is the worst one and is getting a sequel)
- Ghost Rider
- The Punisher #2
- Elektra (ha!)

Re: The Man of Steel/Nolan's Superman

Now lets see DC:

The Good:
- Batman Begins
- The Dark Knight
- Watchmen
- V for Vendetta
- Constantine

The Bad:
-Superman Returns:crying

The Ugly:
- Catwoman:horse

And lets not start to compare the animation because DC breaks Marvel in two!:rotfl

Blade 2 and Spiderman 2 should be on the good list.

Re: The Man of Steel/Nolan's Superman

spidey 2 should be on the good list

After watching Peter Parker talk to a doctor saying that he had a friend who had a dream about his friend been Spiderman blah blah blah, and the people at the train not saying to the press who spidey really is...... I dont know very much about spidey comics but i know that one time Mary Jane and Peter were a couple in this trilogy we didnt have the space to see that happend! only for a moment i guess but it was to lame only 3 movies and they are restarting the franchise again good one for MARVEL!

I'd put Spidey 2 on the Good list and Spidey 1 on the bad list. The Goblin was ridiculous IMHO!

Re: The Man of Steel/Nolan's Superman

Also, if one were to have a 4th category in addition to 'good, bad and ugly' called 'exceptional', DC would notch up BB and TDK in there, and arguably even V for Vendetta. And Marvel would have nothing. That is my opinion of course, but I suspect many would share it.

I'm just the opposite. Except for the costume (which I didn't think was that bad) Green Goblin/Norman Osborn was straight out of the comics, spot-on.

On the other hand, Doctor Octopus was nothing like the Otto Octavius from the comics. He was Doc Ock in appearance only. Made me really dislike that film.

Constantine stunk.... I agree with the rest though....

As for Marvel SM2 and Blade 2 were both pretty damn good, IMO :huh... First X-Men on the bad list.

Re: The Man of Steel/Nolan's Superman

I'd rather they wait and get it right. Tim Burton's Superman Lives would have come out in 2000, but it wouldn't have been remotely "right" for the character. Marvel got it right for the most part when they shepherded the characters themselves rather than selling them to a studio. Although Spider-man 2 and X-Men 2 are great movies as well as great superhero films. Now DC is trying the same thing by creating a division in Warner Bros to create these movies. They have the advantage because they've never sold out the characters to other studios.

Re: The Man of Steel/Nolan's Superman

Amazing News!!!!!!!!!!

Re: The Man of Steel/Nolan's Superman

This I like:

The LAT describes Nolan’s Batman films as creating a world in which Batman is the only hero, and that is expected for Superman as well. “Each serves to the internal logic of the story,” says Nolan. “They have nothing to do with each other.”

Re: The Man of Steel/Nolan's Superman

Well, then that means that there won't be a Justice League movie. Which is okay by me.

And I hope Nolan will hand pick Supe's director. I figure a good director like Nolan will know what qualities will be needed to make a good Supes movie.
