Re: The Man of Steel/Nolan's Superman

DC said it was too early to say anything, she didn't say Nolan wasn't involved. I'll believe Nikki Finke until there's conflicting news from the source. And AICN reconfirmed Nolan's involvement that by referring to Nolan after talking to the head of Legendary Pictures.

Re: The Man of Steel/Nolan's Superman

" Variety said that Goyer pitched a more action-packed idea that involves Superman battling archnemesis Lex Luthor and super villain Brainiac -- far different from the story "Superman Returns" in 2006. Another scribe may join him on the final script, as was the case with "The Dark Knight."..

Thomas Tull, the head of Legendary, got tired of all the discussion and decided … let's do it. So he went to Goyer and Goyer had an idea that actually takes the movies back to the John Byrne incarnation. Modern. Believable. FUN! So Tull got Goyer hired."

Re: The Man of Steel/Nolan's Superman

I loved what Byrne did with Superman. I think it brings a nice reality and believability to the mythos, so I think this direction has good possibilities. And I would like to see Routh back. I think he did a great job as both Supes and Clark. And come to think of it, Parker Posey would have done a great Lois! But I know she's too old even though she looks great for her age and could easily pass for a 30 year old. I just hope Goyer doesn't direct (Blade Trinity :monkey4)!

Variety is just reprinting the Latino Review story. Harry spoke to Tull who denied it.

Re: The Man of Steel/Nolan's Superman

I dont believe in any of those reports this is probably made un purpose to get fans excited about the project....... GUESS WHAT WB! we dont need false reports to get us excited!! we need a Superman Movie right now!! design for the fans, no real state Luthor, no crystal island, no nothing just get Doomsday, Brainiac, Zod, or Darkseid, and destroy Metroplois and 25% of the world and you beat Avatar just like that!!!!!

:chew

Re: The Man of Steel/Nolan's Superman

I really believe this is going down. But it's like any rumor and statements from executives: deny until official. Also makes sense because Nolan likes secrecy around his projects. And if BOF is reporting on it, he usually waits until he's heard from his mainly legit sources before reporting on just internet rumors. I believe Goyer and the Nolans are hatching ideas for the next Superman and dammit that makes me happy.

Re: The Man of Steel/Nolan's Superman

Me two, and what makes more happy is that Goyer will be getting some ideas from John Byrne Superman, (1986) thats my favorite Supes! :chew

but again if it is true........

Not true Bro. I know Marc @ Variety and he doesn't parrot LR, he's a very thorough factchecker, has many reliable Studio sources and in fact reported there is more than just Goyer involved as Writer.

More From Filmslash

Earlier this week, Latino Review broke the story that David Goyer was writing the new Christopher Nolan-produced Superman film for Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures. Variety later reported that Goyer would be writing the story for the film, but collaborating with another screenwriter, assumed to be Jonah Nolan, for the actual script. Legendary Pictures founder Thomas Tull later told Aint It Cool that the story isn’t true and that “Tull has not unilaterally hired Goyer” and that “the project isn’t at the Script stage yet.” It is very possible that Goyer is in the process of working out a deal with Legendary after pitching his take on a new story.

I think their contracts aren't hammered out yet so the norm is to deny until they are completed.

Now there's a rumor Chris will oversee his Brother Jonah as Director. We'll see about that one...

From SHH:

IESB has posted some interesting rumors about DC Entertainment's upcoming slate. The site says it's all still unconfirmed, but these items could potentially be part of the announcements that the studio is expected to make soon.

Yesterday, the site reported that Greg Berlanti, co-producer and co-writer of Martin Campbell's Green Lantern, is the frontrunner to direct Warner Bros.' The Flash.

Earlier this week, it was reported that David Goyer will be writing the new Superman movie, The Man of Steel. What we didn't catch then is that Jonah Nolan, who together with Goyer is writing the script for Christopher Nolan's next Batman movie, is also on board to co-write the Superman film. Of course, this follows the news from earlier this month that Chris Nolan will play a "godfather" role in getting The Man of Steel going.

Which brings us to the really interesting parts. IESB is saying that Chris Nolan is mentoring the movie because his brother Jonah Nolan may make his directorial debut on The Man of Steel.

Adding to that, the site says that there's a possibility that Chris Nolan will direct the Justice League movie after The Man of Steel and next Batman movie are released.

True or not, we think we'll be hearing official word soon.

Chris Nolan possibly doing Justice League.... that would be.... mindblowing.

Re: The Man of Steel/Nolan's Superman

Seriously, I don't think I could handle Christopher Nolan doing Justice League. Mind blowing is putting it mildly for me. First this talk of him helping out Supes, now Justice League! Either this the best fake news I've ever heard or DC has their stuff together.

Re: The Man of Steel

How %^&$ sweet would it be if they did Doomsday?

This is where I'm hoping they choose to go.. An epic death of Superman storyline with all of the marvel characters from the actual comic book including Hal Jordan going nuts with Coast City's destruction after he returns.. I just don't see Routh as that Superman Returns Superman though.. Oh well, whomever it is, they better not look gay.

First of all, the next Superman has to not suck for a Justice League to materialize. And I'm getting tired of the current Batman who was upstaged by The Joker in the acting dept. and who loses his temper with stage helpers... I liked Michael Keaton's Batman the best, but alas he's too old.. If and only if the next Batman and Superman movie's don't suck, then I would have high hopes for a Justice League movie. Let's hope the Green Lantern movie isn't crap either.. That one has the potential to be great, if it doesn't look like Wolverine did..

Re: The Man of Steel/Nolan's Superman

Rumors, rumors, rumors!!!!

One of them even states Jonah Nolan will direct! Debunked, so far, fortunately...

... and the rumor machine still rages on... :(

What else is there to do..lol..

Where has it been officially debunked? Both Nolan's involvement and Goyer's involvement have been debunked and then reaffirmed (sort of).

It's not like the "Johnny Depp will be the Riddler" type of rumor - there is probably some truth the Nolan/Goyer thing.

Officially? nowhere I guess, except in the article I posted last week which was the closest to official we'll get, but magazines keep debunking and contradicting each other.
Now, I find very believable (Alas!!!) Nolan and Goyer's involvment as obviously, movie moguls only going for money are bound to be attracted by the money-making god that Nolan is at the moment. However, I find it hard to believe they would place a movie franchise which will have an impact on the rest of their productions in the the hands of a total beginner! Unless they're even crazier and stupider than I think, that is!
So Nolan/Goyer... Sounds possible
Jonah Nolan directing?... Sounds like BS to me!

Re: The Man of Steel/Nolan's Superman

Jonah Nolan is a great writer, i love the nolans and goyer, but Batman is there baby. Goyers writing is hit or miss IMO, Dark Knight=Hit, Crow 2 city of angels=MISS!. I love jonahs writing but hes not ready to reboot a 200 mill SUperman epic movie. At least i dont think he is. But i could be wrong. I just dont think someone should make there director debut on 1 of the biggest movies of all time.

I have to agree with this. I'm all for the team of J. Nolan/Goyer writing it but would like someone with a tad more experience to direct. It's fine to go with a fresh name, but that person should have one or two small films to base their work on.
I'm also all for grabbing someone from the Independent film circuit, but they better be willing to dazzle and amaze the audience when it comes to the action scenes. It takes a skilled hand to make you care about these fictional characters enough so when you get to the action scenes you give a toss about what's actually going on.
