Re: The Man of Steel

People in the comment section of the Conan video and the video I posted, as well as other forums and what not. Mostly it's a lot of theories, then someone comes in and mentions the heat vision mirror bit like you posted, which ruins everyones theorizing, then it just repeats from there. :lol

Re: The Man of Steel

Someone should find the video where Dib is the evil villain who traps Superman in his virtual world.

It's just funny to see Dib as a super villain. :lol

Re: The Man of Steel

LOL...got it.

Dib's at the end. If it wasn't for that show, Dib would never be. :lol

Re: The Man of Steel

That final trailer si just freaking awesome.
I just looooooooooooove the scifi take on the character.
This is something special very special we're getting with MOS.

I loved every Snyder's movies since DOTD, a great movie by itself that dont need the original movie to exists. Great direction and acting, instant classic for me. Since that screening (was my first time in the US in a movie theatre also) ive kept an eye in Snyder's projects. I studied his work, was inspired by him on some project i storyboarded (especially for a big budget 1900's steam action movie i worked on, directed by CHRISTOPHE GANS)

I Like 300 but have some difficulties with the esthetic, and some of the writing (the voice over for exemple works in the GN but is useless in the movie since its just telling us what we are seeing) the directing is great again there.

WATCHMEN is a triomph, Snyder succeded where many failed.
I was not surprised the movie kinda failed in the box office (i'm not even sure of that but that is the general feeling i get from some articles) the movie is like the comic, for exigent peoples, its not spoonfeeding, but its also weird, violent, not the usual superheros GN or flick.
Snyder doesnt get enough credit for it.
Around the same time people were praising Rodriguez work on SIN CITY but the guy was just making a movie panel from panel, giving some really ridiculous moments, no adaptation work whatsoever, really somme ****ty lazy work directing wise.
BUT Snyder HE did his work, he took main images from the comic then created his camera work from them, choregraphied it, done a proper adaption work.
The Manhattan angle for the climax is very clever, dunno if its Tse/Snyder/Hayter who've found it but its a great idea for a movie where they would have been not enough time to build up for the Squid thing.
However one thing annoyed me a bit, the fights.
I'm not the one who is against the variospeed thing (slomo then regular speed) but i think that it has to be used when the scene asks for it, in Sucker Punch/300 ( or MOS) it works perfectly because the characters are iconized and all, but in WATCHMEN the whole point was to show that the superheros were ordinary peoples so when they start fighting in slo mo and all it felt a bit out of place for me (even if i get the ideas behind it, first you need some ****ing action to put bums in seat, then Snyder love this, and its kinda the way the character fantasize themselves), the only character i felt was ok to be iconized in fights was Ozy or Doc.
The others should have been shown as rough but regular human fighting, handheld style (not shacky cam mind you but maybe like Kubrick films sometime when violence erupt).
However its a pretty incredible thing that this movies exits.

Sucker Punch, i like it but its has also some major flaws again because of the directing style chosen.
The "reality" is overtylized, almost just like the dreams.
So it kinda kills the concept for me.
The reality should have been far more realistic, no slomo, no camera movement effects, to make the dream really work.
The opening is beautiful but so many cool shots and all, its does not contradict the dreams almost.
The movie kinda shy away from what is happening in reality too, so i was kinda suprised that Snyder did not wanted to show the horrors, not that i wanted graphic sex scene but come on the movie avoid the horrible truth in a pretty shy way.
But again its a big movie studio and its pretty balsy to do such project in nowadays industry.
I think the overstylized directing in the real world was the bad idea.
The other bad idea is to leave no doubt to what happens to Babydoll 30mins into the movie, when Hamm is done.
I mean what the point we already know she's ****ed, why should we care? Its done.
BRAZIL, wich was clearly an inspiration there, mixed reality and dreams toward its climax leaving the viewer on the edge of its seat until the very last shot.
Keeping him interested by Lowry's fate.

Sorry for the long text ^^

I think MAN OF STEEL will be the perfect blend between, Snyders naturalistic work for all the drama part, then Sucker Punch/300 for all the superhero hyperstylized stuff.
Cant freaking wait!

So IRISH is Snyder coming to PARIS?
I dlike to assist the press conference if there is one.
Everyone is obsessed by Cannes for now but i gotta get around ato sk my journalists friends when the press screening is taking place :)

Re: The Man of Steel

WE know that, but it's fun seeing those "not in the know" talk about it.

Nope, it's just annoying.

Re: The Man of Steel

None at all it seems.

I kind of want to see the rest of that scene. :lol

I saw that episode long ago, it's pretty silly. Andy Berman totally hams it up. (Dib). And all that weird **** is totally worth watching.

I have no idea about the rest of the series though.

Re: The Man of Steel

I asked a local revival house if they'd screen SUPERMAN THE MOVIE and SUPERMAN II before MOS, since they showed WRATH OF KHAN before INTO DARKNESS in 35mm. They said the studio is holding them until after MOS hits.

I guess I won't be able to see the classic originals on the big screen any time soon. :(

Re: The Man of Steel

Just found out about Nam-ek the Kryptonian Giant in Man of Steel today, should make for an interesting fight with Super-man
