Re: The Man of Steel
I think Snyder has a point I mean DC should not be reacting to what Marvel it seems very short sighted. And here we have Iron Man 3 making over a billion dollars with out having the Avengers staring with him. I mean Avengers was the culmination of years of movies released by Marvel and to suddenly think that you can recreate all that by releasing one movie with all these Super heroes is it with out laying out some kind ground work is a recipe for disaster.
The Avengers did not need the typical character introductions considering that was already sorted out in the previous movies so hence they can jump right in to thick of it with Loki. I would like to see them try and introduce 2 new justice league characters and a rebooted Batman in addition to the main villain all in one movie.
And I really think the really success of the movie lies with Iron Man and Robert Downey acting ability being the main draw due to it having 2 movies to everybodies elses one movie and it had built up quite a fan base and hype for Marvel with which all the other movies rode.
Man of Steel could be that anchor movie for DC similar to Iron Man for Marvel in which all the other movies can be built around once it has foot hold with the audience.
I thing that has me a bit concerned is this extra emphasis placed on this movie being ground in reality from the interview they seem like the want science to explain all Supermans powers from how he flies to his strength which is fine if you want to keep it with in the world of superman but try to explain Green Lanterns will power through logic and science and they might being to box themselves in to a corner. I am not saying it will not work, I am sure the can think of something clever, but they don't need to go to deep with ever thing. Heck X men do all shorts of stuff but we forget about it and nobody bothers to asks how we just sit back and enjoy the movie.
Yeah, I still haven't seen green lantern, I'd probably give it a chance if it was on tv and I had nothing better to do, could just leave it on and see how it goes. But I don't hold out any hope from what I've heard. I agree though, maybe that will give DC/Warner Bros an idea of what works and what doesn't. Hopefully Man of Steel is their jumping off point. Snyder has said though that he's more interested in doing sequels to Man of Steel before a Justice League movie is started.
