Universal Monsters is a nice license, but really how far could they have floated that old thing in 1/6th scale?

They moved on to dios and PFs for that line and that was a wise decision, IMO.

They still have a few major characters left.:monkey3

Who? (not trying to sound sarcastic, I just don't know beyond Frankenstein, Wolfman, Dracula, etc.)

Bela Lugosi as Ygor, Boris Karloff as Hjalmar Poelzig, and Claude Rains as the Phantom of the Opera immediately spring to mind, and are all major players to classic horror fans. Plus, Ygor was the only character from the 8" line to not get carried over.

I went to buy some wine, but it was too much money, so I stopped collecting SS stuff so I was able to buy wine. So no more SS for me. I'm not whining and I don't mind when others whine, but I do hate when someone whines about someone whining.

They never did a Luna to go with London After Midnight and they never did a Christine Dae to go with the Phantom of the Opera.

sideshow is in the evolution phase.
^^^^ most of us has seen the economy and stuff is getting expensive. so i have to be more selective with what i want or collection.but one negative comment though. i have noticed there morelike a distribution warehouse. taking on companies either i have never heard of or were tanking. i am not going to name name's because i won't insult anyone here.

All companies have an ebb and flow... but right now for 1/6 HT are the king, but that doesn't mean there still aren't cool figures from Sideshow.

Price is an issue that affects everyone, but really I don't think the increase has been that ridiculous for any of the companies. A dollar doesn't buy what it used to, and with smaller ES and higher expected quality that gets translated into a more expensive figure.

I've far from given up on Sideshow ( I also got seriously into 1/6 thanks to the Universal monsters ) , but I must admit , I made the mistake of buying Smuggler Han and Hot Toys Kane figure on the same shopping trip . And yes , I know , Kane cost 3 times Han , blah , blah , but for the first time (well, second if you count Yavin Luke!) I was actually disappointed with a Star Wars figure and I have 99% of the releases so far . And it was down to the old "Buck" body issue again . ( I know this is old news , but it IS relevant when on this subject ). I would have been willing to wait for the Han until after the Prometheus had been sorted out and the rise in cost isn't an issue with me but the bottom line is , try as I might , I just can't get Han to look good on the shelf ! Frozen and loose joints do not a poseable figure make. I used to have ALL Sideshows Star Wars line on pre-order sight unseen , but now I tend to wait for reviews and until I have seen one "in person" before I commit to buying . The good news though , is I usually end up buying them anyway , but with so many releases in 2009 I genuinely hope Sideshow can up their game a little . I'm very optimistic that they will .

SS has some really cool product coming like GIJOE vader, but if the figures cant stand or you cant pose them because there floppy. Who cares... Prometheus is bunk.. Also th pricing is getting up there im in canada and figures are running 150-200 range now. SUCKSSSSSS

I actually really don't like the 12" dolls, they look so silly 99% of the time with a few exceptions. I'd stick with McFarlane or NECA if I wanted cheaper collectibles, the high end statues are the only reason Sideshow gets my money.
