After watching both skits, I definitely think it could have all been a publicity thing just to get more press for "Max Payne". Wahlberg didn't seem too upset, and he talked to the donkey too! :rotfl:rotfl

I though last week's skit was hilarious.
even before I found out it was making fun of him talking to plants in The Happening ....

anybody have a link to the new skit??

I thought Poehler's "I'm No Angel" commercial was the funniest thing they've done in years.

Old-fashioned, slapstick humor.

Also, "MacGruber"'s usually good for a couple of spontaneous laughs.

I find the MacGruber skits puzzling. Why are they spoofing a 20 year old show that's long since left the public consciousness? It feels like something that belongs back in the Mike Myers/Dana Carvey days.

Man....he sounded JUST like Walberg, I thought it was hilarious. And Marky Mark needs to get his funky bunch lined up. But you could tell he was really laughing at it.

Okay, how many that thought the original sketch was funny, even without the followup, are Family Guy fans?

I thought so.

And Macgruber puzzles me as well - I've never found it worth even a smile. In fact everything that guy who plays MacGruber is in is kind of lame.

That's so funny Dave. I like the original Mark Wahlberg tlaking to animals skit, I like the Family guy (watching it now) and thought the Macgruber skits this week were ridiculously stupidly hillarious.

I already know you don't like Family guy, and your conclusion/correlation about family guy/macgruber/wahlberg's talking to animals skit probably has some deep psychological meaning.

You should charge for therapy lessons, there's a hidden perception that you have.

Yep, there's something going on there - just like there's a whole group of people that hate Judd Apatow films.

The original skit left me scratching my head. He had Wahlberg's speech patterns down pretty well, and I can imagine him messing around like that at lunch time in the SNL cafeteria and everybody laughing along with him. But something that's funny to your buddies doesn't always translate when filmed and broadcast to an audience. I just kind of stared at the screen and wondered what the point was.

The point was to get Mark on the show, and have this fake as hell showdown that didnt do anything at all.

I also ask why they even bothered to have Sarah Palin on....she didnt do jack ^^^^.

So was this planned from the beginning? I got the impression that Wahlberg only came on as a response to the initial skit. If it was all an elaborately planned setup, then I am left scratching my head even more and wondering why all the trouble, lol.

I'm pretty sure it was. The whole thing just feels staged for the sake of putting Wahlberg out there to sell his new flick.

I don't really see what's so funny about any of the skits, especially the first one featuring Samberg talking to animals. Maybe I'm missing the context. Does Wahlberg talk to animals? Are they riffing "The Happening"? He talked to plants in that one. Does Wahlberg talk funny or is his speech odd?

I don't get it.
