...and yet... the whole Curiosity program so far cost the American taxpayers $2.5 billion... but American spend approximately $7 BILLION DOLLARS ANNUALLY on POTATO CHIPS... so really... where is the bigger waste... or should that be WAIST???

not to even MENTION how much is spent annually on the WAR budget... the fact that exploration and science are such low priorities is shameful on all of us as a species.

I don't hate it, I just think what a shame it is that we're throwing cash away for the space program ATM, and what all those brilliant minds could accomplish if focused on things like free energy, emission reduction, curing disease, advancements in bionics to help amputees, etc. Then when things turn around, which inevitably they would given the collective IQ, they can go right back to stargazing.

How would curing disease, emission reduction, and advancements in bionics improve the economy as you were saying was so important right now?

Oh HELL yes! Not only am I excited about the landing, but I am also excited that this thread is sparking a continuation of the discussions that got the Aurora thread closed! I missed those discussions!

The only thing we are missing now is someone to somehow use this event to tout gun control and we will be all set!

:monkey3:lol

That's because the budget for Nasa was so low as it was already, cutting that program didn't even make a dent in the economy. If anything, they should increase their budget.

I was just teasing Nam. I'm all for space exploration. Might be mankind's salvation one day.

I'd rather my money went for something like this than for all these wars that in the long run isn't going to solve a damn thing.

Hate it all you want, but mankind's CURIOUSITY for reaching beyond this planet, and our curiousity for what is out there, is just hard wired into our brains.
This is why we will keep pushing beyond this planet.

Wonder if we'll get any more pictures of the Tusken Raiders on Mars?

what I dont get is why they dont go search our own oceans,
there is nothing we are going to learn from Mars that will benefit us,

yet there is a good chunk of sea that we have not explored, how about doing that?

we know more about space and the stars that we know about our own oceans, thats is BS

You are correct. Space exploration has done nothing for us. Technological advancement that a mission like this brings is a complete waste of time. Understanding the fundamental nature of the universe we inhabit? What a joke.

Right again. Let's send our astronauts, space engineers and the rest of the crew of NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) to go explore and study the oceans. Listen, just because we are going to to space doesn't mean we have stopped studying other fields in our planet. Oceanographers are still out there doing their job.

see at least someone understands what a waste this is :1-1:

:lecture:lecture:lecture Because apparently all these geniuses would be complete incompetents outside of NASA. :exactly:
