Well if anyone black or white cant see how far we have come I would tell them to open up a history book. Its better now.. Not perfect but better.
I have talked to black people about this subject. I have members of the family that are black.. You would be surprised by some of the answers.
You can say its not political but there is more to politics then just Taxes.
There is also the little bit about having feelings but that does not mean those feelings are correct if the facts don't back them.
Lets take the hot button topic of today. Unarmed Blacks being shot by cops.
The narrative by politicians and the media is that cops are singling out black people and shooting them. Never mind the fact that it is just not the case. They say it anyways and show every video they can... But Statistics dont back it up. Media chooses what to cover and politicians make their talk points for votes regardless of the facts.
I can dig up stats about police shooting and the race that gets shot. I can show examples of other races being shot while unarmed and how the media does not cover it.. Hell there was even a young white man that was killed while handcuffed because a police officer had his knee on his back and all 4 officers got off without punishment. Hard to find those stories on the news or politicians talk about those events.. Why?? Its does not push their narrative.
So yeah I don't blame Black people for being freaked out about cops and white america.. Its what we all hear all the time... All you see on the news is black's being shot.. No whites being shot.. Just the blacks.. So instead of a possible police problem.. All we hear is we have a racist police problem and a systemic race issue and then you end up with a summer of cities burning.
So hearing Sam and the writer tell their narrative in such an awkward way it seems more agenda driven then anything else.. I mean lets face it.. Disney has a track record for it.
Now they may and can still feel that way.. Who am I to say.. Perhaps it was not agenda driven and its how they feel.. I did not walk in their shoes and lived their lives. So fine.. How about this.. Their feelings and the shows writing made for some ****** TV. I was onboard with most of it.. But the speech.. My God the Speech... I can turn on MSNBC any given night and hear the same thing delivered just as badly.
The two most important ones from the two mainstream comics publishers are agenda driven characters(Cap and Superman).
Its like the Black Panther again, if you don't have empathy you will feel that way when someone who fights for
HUMAN RIGHTS gives a Speech and you are gonna call it
SJW or
agenda driven or
Social Justice Warrior.
And the most ironic thing with Sam's speech is that he was not talking "black lives matter" but "
all lives matter and should be treated with respect and this is the government only job".
Sam: Your Peace Keeping troops, carrying weapons, are forcing millions of people into settlements around the world, right? What do you think those people are going to call you? These labels, terrorists, refugees, thug. They?re often used to get around the question ?why.?
Senator 2: Those settlements that happened five years ago. Do you think it is fair for governments to have to support that?
Senator: Sincerely. You did your part in dealing with those terrorists. Now we?ll do ours.
Sam: Are you still going forward with resetting the borders?
Senator 2: Our peacekeeping troops will begin relocating people soon. The terrorists only set us back a bit.
Sam: You have to stop calling them terrorists.
Senator: What else would we call them?
Sam: Your Peace Keeping troops, carrying weapons, are forcing millions of people into settlements around the world, right? What do you think those people are going to call you? These labels, terrorists, refugees, thug. They?re often used to get around the question ?why.?
Senator 2: Those settlements that happened five years ago. Do you think it is fair for governments to have to support that?
Sam: Yes.
Senator: And the people who reappeared only to find someone else living in their family home, they just end up homeless? I get it. But you have no idea how complicated this situation is.
Sam: You know what, you?re right, and that?s a good thing. We finally have a common struggle now. Think about that. For once, all the people who?ve been begging and, I mean, literally begging for you to feel how hard any given day is, now, you know. How did it feel to be helpless? If you can remember what it was like to be helpless and face a force so powerful, it could erase half the planet. You wouldn?t know that you were about to have the exact same impact. This isn?t about easy decisions. Senator.
Sam: I?m a black man, carrying the stars and strips. What don?t I understand? Every time I pick this thing up, I know there are millions of people out there who are going To hate me for it. Even now, here. I feel it. The stares, the judgment, and there?s nothing I can do to change it. And I?m still here. No super serum. No blonde hair or blue eyes. The only power I have is that I believe we can do better.
We can?t demand that people step up if we don?t meet them halfway. You control the banks. ****, You can move borders. You can knock down a forest with an email. You could feed a million people With a phone call. But the question is, who was in the room with you when you?re making those decisions? Is it the people you?re going to impact? Or is it just more people like you?
I mean, this girl died trying to stop you. And no one has stopped for one second to ask why. You?ve got to do better. Senator, you?ve got to step up because if you don?t, the next Karli will, and you don?t want to see 2.0. People believed in her cause so much that they helped her defy the strongest governments in the world. Why do you think that is? A few people have just as much power as an insane God or misguided teenager. The question you have to ask yourself is how are you going to use it?
