In SM Peter was living alone, attended college and generally the focus was on Parker as a person, dealing with all of his problems as a young adult. It was an adaptation of "Spider-Man No More", with the whole losing his powers bit, with a bit of "The Master Planner" thrown in there. Yes, girl, school and money problems were there, but as a backdrop.

Those issues were the main story in SM2.

It was the "main" villain's plot and relationship with Spidey that was in the background, and it was refreshing.

Peter's girl problems are the main focus of the story, because he's trying to figure out if he can be both Peter and Spidey and have MJ, or just Peter. Him being in high school or college makes no difference, imo.

In a High School setting they become the main stories

We'll see.

As for Ock, he robbed a bank to finance his plan. It was merely a step of his overall scheme. In the early stories, folks like Sandman just stole **** and Peter stopped them. There was overarching story about it. Like most crime fighters, he fought petty crimes.

Yeah, and Peter being in college or high school makes no difference when it comes to how a villain is used in SM2.

First Spiderman movie with a real teenage actor and darth is ready to move on lol.

You have Logan.

Darth just wants old man Peter :monkey2

In TASM, he was in High School, and in TASM2 he greduated. In the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, he was in High School. In the Ultimate comic, he was in High School. He's in High School in everything past the main title these days, and I'm just tired of it. High School blows, it was a small part of the character, but everybody acts as if it's his defining trait.

It makes a difference though. College Peter can puruse a serious relationship. College Peter can use better resources for his Deus Ex Machina. College Peter can be in a triangle with Gwen and MJ. College Peter can get a part-time job at the Bugle. College Peter can come across Miles Warren and Curt Connors. College Peter can start getting his life in order.

Both TASM & Raimi used certain elements of these, but I just want to see them be the forefront, instead of him akwardly trying to fit in HS, make friends, not miss any classes, etc, etc. I'm just tired of it.

If Peter was in High School, he wouldn't have been able to become a protege of some sorts to Ock. Harry wouldn't have taken control of OsCorp and he wouldn't have funded ock's experiment in the first place. Sure, you can make Pet some ultra-PIS-genius like Mr. Terrific who had 7 Doctorates by age 15 (most obnoxious character ever), but that wasn't Raimi's Universe. Pete was smart, a genius even, but he was still a poor kid with no access to grand schools, great books, hidden info and whatnot.

Either way, we're just going in circles now. I'm sick of HS and the prospect of more movies set in that time period makes me sick, period. I want to see the bad-ass mature Spider-Man I read about for years, not the whiny brat that's become of him since Slott took over. I'm tired of teenage books/characters in general. I won't read anything starring someone below Uni level.

And this:

And many other scenes that just don't work with HS Peter. Batman gets to be a bad-ass all the time. My boy Spidey deserves some of that in his 3rd reboot.

Maaaaan, stop posting your fanfiction. :monkey3

Spider-Man is a good boi who gets good grades, loves his young sexy aunt and has a fat Asian friend...

Besides, Spidey is a weak ass street level vigilante :chase

I always wondered what Doc Ock did with that money and how he got his machine. It looks like he stole bags of Gold Bullion Coins, so he couldn't just spend them without getting them converted to currency first, and even if he did steal cash I don't know how we would have been able to just buy a nuclear fusion reactor with it given the fact that he doesn't exactly blend in that well.

It's a CBM. I ain't gotta explain ****!

Kidding aside, I don't remember. I haven't seen SM2 in about a decade or so.

SM2 ruined, place it in the TDKR bin please.

No wonder your attempt to use it as an example of a great Spidey because he's not in High School totally failed. :monkey3

Oh...I forgot that the MCU Spidey won't be punching anyone...isn't that awesome?

I will agree with darthkostis, we do not need a whole series of new high-school based Spiderman films. If they do that Tom Holland will have gotten sick of the role by the time his Spidey should be older and then what? Reboot! Back to high school with him.

Having said that I myself still can't wait to see this film.

Son, the brain is a muscle and my body is covered with muscles, thus I'm covered in brains, so I have more brains than you. :lol

What muscles boi?

Not gonna lie, I want to see Keaton's Vulture.

I think they choose highschool a lot cause of things like ssm and ultimate. Idk why they can't just do college but then again I guess they want this Spider-Man to grow into the role.

Come on, he's goin' in space to fight Thanos soon...
Makes no sense to announce that there'll be more high school SM movies.

I agree with Clown here for sure. Yes, Spidey has his moments where he's pushed too far emotionally and physically, and get get a bit unwound as a result. Kraven's Last Hunt is the best example I've read. The Death of Jean DeWolff being another. But that is a very rare exception to the rule. Spidey is about humor and optimism, fighting the good fight the right way because it's the right thing to do, no matter what crap gets thrown his way. That was one thing I really loved about Amazing Spider-Man 2. In the end, after Stacey dies, Spidey pulls himself out of his despair, puts on his suit, and goes back to wisecracking and being a hero to kids. That is Spider-Man. And I think the MCU is a great place for him, because they get that. I have high hopes for this movie.

We sure as hell ain't getting that with WB/DC, and Cap will be dead soon I'm sure, so Spidey has to take up that mantle.

They should not have had him taking on half of the Avengers in a previous flick then.
There's a lot more to growth than power and fighting ability. Particularly with a guy with as rich a dramatic backstory as Spidey.
