I was really happy because the trailer looked fun.
I was happy because the action looked exciting.

I loved the first 20 minutes when harry attacks him and he loses his ring.

Yea definitely. Venom is my favorite villain so the poster foreshadowed him coming.

The trailers all were amazing . The posters were great. The hype was real. I don't think I'll ever be hype for a movie again like I was for sm3 . I saw it and I was like "what"? Just missed the magic that made the first two classics.

I remember reading somewhere that Sam Raimi originally didn't want to put Venom in SM3 as he wasn't a fan of the character, but the studio insisted that he do it as a "fan service"... Some fan service it turned out to be. :lol

I think he added the jazz club dance scene as revenge for making him add venom.

Predator might bring back the hype

I have hope

Spider-man is my favorite superhero and even with his entrance into the MCU, it's still difficult to get immensely excited for this movie because I feel part of the magic has been worn away by essentially two back-to-back reboots and what has been a slightly disappointing last sequel in Amazing Spider-man 2.

He was rebooted 5 years after Raimi's Spider-man 3, and then 2 years after Amazing Spider-man 2...I'm counting Civil War as his "first appearance".

I still believe Homecoming is going to be a solid film. I'd love for it to be top-tier MCU like "Iron Man" and "Guardians of the Galaxy" but I'm not going in with that expectation. I do like that they're keeping a younger Spider-man as I've thoroughly enjoyed the narration of a younger Parker in the original "Ultimate Spider-man" run and he did spend a great deal of time being Spidey in high school in the 616 comics.

The amount of times Spider-Man has been rebooted is utterly ridiculous. If The Amazing Spider-Man 2 had been at least half good, then we'd probably still have only two main cinematic Spider-Man incarnations. My guess is that the sequel to Homecoming will flop and they'll reboot him again, LOL.

Same here. I was fooled immensely by the great trailers and hoping spidey would get back on track but yea that never worked. They should of waited awhile after three. Or they should of given it to marvel. Spiderman isn't like the xmen. You can't mess up the timeline repeatedly

What if every single sequel from now on are all reboots.

It seems like once you screw up on a big franchise then you must reboot now. i blame spiderman for this. he is my favorite hero of all time but ever since that little stunt in 2010 it seems like normal that if a franchise fails or runs it's course then you either reboot it or soft reboot it.

I understand they dont want to continue with a failing cast or director/writer, but i dont understand why start over.

I wish hero movies were like james bond were they just change cast and make different stories

This was a calculated reboot that made sense. The blame rests on Sony and their failures turned into a blessing in disguise for Marvel to regain their flagship character.

Yeah, it sucks that it has happened so soon and the other movies are still "fresh", but I think it's hard to argue against this being a smart business decision.

Your right which is why I don't want Sony to do anything more with the property. The execution of the 2012 movies are just poorly done. I know marvel isn't perfect nor is this incarnation (so far) but it's better than what sony has done these last ten years. Plus MCU felt empty without spiderman now it feels like its missing a huge chunk from it thanks to xmen and FF.

Well from my understanding of the character deal, Sony doesn't have much say as a lot of the creative direction belongs to Marvel. All they have to do is sit back and collect a check. Sony gets Spidey solo movie sales, Marvel gets Spidey appearance sales in MCU movies.

Apparently Marvel also gets payments contingent on profit milestones, they also have control of Spidey in all other media as well.

It's win-win as the exposure Spidey gets across the MCU is more attention and revenue for the solo Spidey films. And you know Marvel isn't going to allow their flagship character to be anything but successful now that they've regained creative control.

Yea sony is making money off of this which is why it's a head scratcher that they want to mess it up with spin offs and the like.

Holland seems to have the Spidey banter but Garfield looked physically more like Peter Parker for me. As for Maguire, the less said the better (even though the movies themselves were great).
