and then got it all back in the end....right?...

Which I think is fine because he earned his wings but also because he will need it against Thanos anyways.

He didn't defeat Vulture. Vulture defeated Vulture

This Spidey is still "Spider-Iron Man"

I don't see how the upgrades changed Spiderman in any way he was still a kid learning the ropes.

If anything the upgrades made things more complicated for him, he had to work harder to deal with them and failed miserably I might add.

Losing those upgrades made him find himself.

The upgrades weren't there just for nothing it was an important part of his arc.

I don't need to see the same spiderman from Spiderman 1/2/3/ASM/ASM2.

I'm happy we got something new.

Yea that's not iron spider at all. The suit just had upgrades that Peter would make in the comics. No different except they were built in the suit. Peter made multiple web gadgets. The only thing that was like iron man was that the suit talked back. He kept crashing into everything, this Spider-Man is completely inexperienced and that's a great change of pace from the last few. Especially Garfield who uses his powers for skateboarding. So dumb.

Those spidermen weren't perfect either especially Garfield. If we would have gotten the same thing people would still get mad lol

Just came back from seeing this. Wow! The movie was great!
Loved seeing Peter making mistakes and earning his suit. He proved that he was something without the suit. This Spidey was true to the character. The story unfolded naturally from one thing to the next while moving the plot along. Stark was a bit of ****** having Peter constantly calling him for some acknowledgement. I didn't buy it that he called the FBI about the weapons. If he didn't want Peter to do anything he should have just told him that he was on top of it. And Stark never mentioned that Peter messed with the suit and took out the tracking device.
I liked this better than Garfield and a little better than McGuire. The Rami Spider-man films never flowed right with me. The first one went drop m scene to scene sometimes just because it had to not really progressing the story much. And I never knew what the goblins purpose was. Part 2 was better than part one in that it hammered Peter hard forcing him to quit. But I didn't buy that Peter would quit with Doctor Octupus still around. Octopus was a great villain but he seemed super powered without having any super powers. This probably should not be in spoilers but when I start I sometimes can't stop.

I just got back from seeing it. I enjoyed it. At least this Spider-Man was the kid he's supposed to be and acted it.

I thought the after (not mid) credits was funny, but most in the theater thought it wasn't funny and acted pissed they sat through the credits for all that. :lol

Just returned from 2nd viewing, the movie holds up wonderfully.

Lots of laugh in the packed theater.

I can now say the ending with
aunt May cursing
is now my favorite MCU ending, very funny.

Humor works wonders.

Anyways I still think the end battle is too messy.

I do agree that Raimi's movies had more at stake for Spiderman.

Think about it if Spiderman just leaves Vulture alone all Vulture is going to do is keep stealing, not the end of the world and certainly no danger to Peter.

Also why doesn't vulture just use that door creating gadget on a bank to steal money why even bother with stealing rare items then having to build weapons and then having to find buyers.

Just use that gadget on a bank vault and steal unmarked cash, instant wealth.

You think
Peter will admit to May that he's Spider-man or will he try and lie his way out?

Would aunt may seduce young peter?

God that would be intense

They did use the tech on the ATMs so they were doing just that, but that would only get them so far. And they made it a big point saying Spider-Man isn't on an Avengers level. He is on the streets taking care of smaller crimes than world domination.

I thought it was interesting that
When he was in Washington at the top of the monument he seemed a little scared of heights, but at the end of the movie he was web swinging to the top of Avengers tower.

I think my opinion may not be popular but I thought it was OK overall. It may or may not improve for me with a second viewing.

Personally if this movie just had more of Michael Keaton and a lot less of Peter Parker's best friend I would have liked this A LOT more.

The Good

Michael Keaton was fantastic. When he threatened to kill Parker (best scene in the film for me), I really believed him... Great delivery and very real. This movie needed way more of him.

Tom Holland was as great as Parker. Probably the best Peter Parker. I will probably get grief for this but I like Andrew Garfield's take on the actual Spider-man the best. But Tom was very likable and played Parker perfectly.

Robert Downey Jr. was great as usual. His chemistry with Holland was great and I loved his role as surrogate father.

Loved the
Pepper Potts cameo. Nice to see her back with Tony

The Not so good.

I know this is a young Spidey but he was a bit too clumsy in the action... Much more so then fighting a bunch a Avengers. Spidey seemed much more like Spidey in CW and that takes place before this so what gives? Would have liked to see a bit more classic spidey action moves. Other then the Washington Monument scene I was not really blown away by anything...

The Humor was hit or miss for me. Some of the klutzy Spiderman action did not work well for me.. Like I said I wanted more classic spidey action. Say what you want about The Amazing Spiderman 2 as a movie but Spidey in action was perfect. I loved how Spidey was handled in Civil War... Wish he was more like that.

The CGI was kinda bad... I mean I thought Spidey CGI looked great in Civil War and What I remember from the two Garfield films. The Daytime scenes with Spidey were not done well. Nighttime looked fine but Daytime always looked like Spidey lacked real weight and looked more like Spider-man 1 then a more modern Spidey film.

I wish the final battle was better.

The overall story seemed a bit lacking. As was mentioned by Jye... Spidey;s stakes in the other films were much higher.

The Bad
I hated Parker's friend.. He just annoyed me. He seemed like he might be more at home in a Michael Bay movie then a Marvel movie.

The Music was awful.. Wanted a great Spider-man theme and other then the Marvel intro of the classic theme I dare anyone to try and hum the spider-man theme song in this.

Flash Thompson... Actor was fine but would anyone be intimidated by that guy?

So overall... I liked the film my basic issue was I thought the action was a step down from previous installments of the character and not all the humor worked for me. But much of that is easy to overlook because the main characters where great!

7 out of 10 but I was really hoping for 8 or better. I thought about giving it a 6 out of 10 but the 3 main characters were just so good. More Keaton and better action would have put this at a 8 or 9 out of 10 easy.

It's really one of the better of the MCU movies.

I was actually stressing that there wasn't going to be the MCU opening logo.

Whenever I see the SONY/Columbia logo I immediately hear Elfman's Spiderman theme music.

Hmmmm Not sure where I would rank it...

Not as good as TWS, CW, 1st Avengers, IM or TIH

but much better then IM2, IM3, AOU, Dr. Strange, and Thor TDW

It was more middle of the road for me.

Just returned.

Since WW is the best WB has to offer they still have a long way to go before catching up to the quality on display here.

Finally a Spidey movie that beats out Spiderman 1/2.

Don't get me wrong I like Raimi's first 2 movies they were charming due to their simplicity but I never thought they were perfect.

This is the best big movie of 2017 so far, I consider Logan a much smaller movie.

I really only had 1 problem with this movie and that was with the use of the word PORN in a Spiderman movie was that really necessary with all the kids that are going to be watching this. The joke wasn't even funny so using that word was wasted while still causing problems.

My son as well as the kids behind me asked what porn meant.

Very stupid move by Marvel and Sony to put that in there and i'm no prude.

Other than that the big final battle was very difficult to follow because it took place at night with fast cuts and character movements.

Who would've ever thought a silly looking comic book villain would be one of the best in the MCU go figure.

Great ending before going to the credits loved it.

WW is the best Big movie of the Summer for me. It did everything right as Superhero films go. And it had two things this Spidey movie was really lacking.. A great Score and great action.... But spidey had great villain... Other then Ledger's Joker this was the best done villain in the modern Comic films... Loki is up there also.

Wow! A great villain adds much more to my score than anything else... so if this is true, I will really, REALLY enjoy Spiderman despite its faults. Except maybe the bad score... that's never good. Overall 7 doesn't sound impressive though.

I see it tomorrow night.

Keaton was worth at least 4 or 5 of the points for me :)

He is not as evil as some of the others.. But in some way he is scarier because he is a bit more real.

What stops me from falling in line with this is that I enjoyed the action a bit more than you.

I would say that every Spiderman movie so far has had their share of good and bad. .

Spidey's theme is pretty good in this as was Vultures theme.

But I still prefer the music from Raimi's trilogy.

I think I like Vulture best because he's pretty grounded (especially now, LOL) and relatively believable. Keaton did a stellar job bringing him to life. After that it'd be Loki and Red Skull. I hope Hela is a beast. All other MCU villains? Pretty forgettable for me.

I do think Keaton was one meaty scene short of earning him top spot on the MCU villain list.

He was definately good but needed something to push him over into greatness and it never came.

The climax battle didn't do anyone any favors it was a mess.

Yeah the music was forgettable I thought - I mean, I had in fact forgotten it minutes after the film ended so I think I can back that statement up. :lol

Giacchino, I'm just not a fan. Other than maybe a 5 second part of his Star Trek theme I find his stuff bland.
