Would a handsome kid like Tom Holland with ripped abs, nice hair and no glasses really be an unpopular awkward kid in school who is the joke of a party?

The answer is no, that boy would easily be getting all the girls in real life.

If Marvel really wanted to do something different they should've had the nerds bullying on Parker for being too good looking for a smart guy, being jealous of his good looks.

That indian kid picking on him made no freaking sense unless he was jealous of his good looks but I doubt that was it.

Excellent point but no way Marvel would put an ugly actor in the title role-!

In case anyone was unsure, Kevin Feige has stated:

Zendaya is not Mary Jane and the MJ is just a nod to that.

Thank God!! Some things are still sacred

She's the MCU MJ... there's no way Mary Jane is popping up now.

... but unfortunately this is probably true

Tobey played a good creepy glasses wearing nerd.

He definitely sold the geek role perfectly. On the same note, I liked Garfield's Spidey but HATED his Peter.

I'm convinced with Holland's nerdiness and why he's a nerd. He's a great "year one" Spidey too. I think he'll be the one to balance the character the best going forward

So far he's the best at playin' Spider-fail. :lol

After sittin' on it for a day... I think this was a pretty meh Spider-man film.
A step down from what they've shown of him in Civil War.
Vulture is the only solid part of it. Good reimaginin' of a silly and boring character.

I was honestly more interested in Vulture than Spider-Man in this film. Without Keaton, this would have been an easy pass for me.

......what? What kind of sense does it make to do that?

''She's not MJ but we're gonna have her say a line 'my friends call me MJ' ''

No clue. There are certain things that they are smart enough to know will cause backlash, or will be a hit out of the gate. There's no grey area with this one, so I'd be surprised if Sony was really "testing the waters". They know damn well the internet would've exploded. They call it "fun" but I think they were just trying to annoy us :lol

That's actually something I liked, and I don't get why some are mad about it.
She's a new character and a good one so far, I can't complain.
It's much smarter than makin' a white blonde from CB into black just for the sake of villain related twist.
God, this movie's a mess... :lol

But isn't she only loosely based on Liz Allen? That's not even her last name in this. And it's not like Liz Allen was anyone significant in the comic anyway. She's definitely no where near Gewn or MJ, who I feel are iconic enough to have screen representations that respect the source

The real Mary Jane could still pop up. She did not come into Peters life unto waaaaaaaay later so there's thine for Spidey to do his thing.

Hes a disgusting white male. White men are obsolete bro.
Of course he would be a loser today more than ever
