You can't have a geeky black kid raised by his aunt, who gets Peter's powers, becomes Spidey, has similar relationships with girls, etc.? We no longer live in a time where someone with X ethnicity would necessarily be any different than someone with Y ethnicity. He doesn't need to be "urban" or whatever to be black.

The essence of the character is that he's a white geek from Queens.
You can't change his race without changing his character.

Black Peter Parker most likely. It seems the truth in the rumor (that sounds weird to just write) is that Marvel Studios/Sony is deciding between Miles Morales and Peter Parker. Why? One argument is that it would tie easier into the current Marvel Cinematic Universe:

Spider-Woman unmasks and arrests Miles and takes him to S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, where Nick Fury reveals that he knows all about Miles and his family, including his uncle's criminal activity. After he helps S.H.I.E.L.D. subdue the escaped supervillain Electro, S.H.I.E.L.D. releases Miles and gives him a modified black and red version of the Spider-Man costume, which Ganke feels makes Miles "officially" the new Spider-Man

Miles was created as a replacement for Peter in the Ultimate Universe, but signs seem to point to simply removing the Peter angle if they use him, meaning that he would get bitten by a radioactive Spider from Oscorp that his uncle stole and I even read grumblings of the idea that the radioactive Spider instead of using it to repeat the Spider-Man formula would be in an attempt for Oscorp to try and repeat the Super Soldier formula. Nick Fury is so closely tied to Miles because he is a kid, that they could really tie it together with the MCU even though they are still using it at Sony.

While Peter is probably the odds on favorite to be used, it does seem possible for them to alter Miles enough to use him which I think it what is fueling the flames of this rumor.

I really have no problem with Miles Morales. But nuts to changing PP race just for diversity This will be the first time Marvel Studios would have made a mistake except for the Mandarin fiasco, but this is a big one.

What is funny is this one interview is gaining a lot of traction with no substance. This one guy is quoted over and over in new articles appearing daily, Yahoo! has had three different ones so far from different sites, but all pointing back to this one guy. If he is wrong it'll be tough to shake that one.

, Another two articles from two different site appeared on my Twitter feed with the same info. One person though mentioned that Marvel Studios AND Sony love the fact everyone is talking about it and might audition black and white actors regardless of who they are going with just to keep the free promotion going. Looks like this rumor isn't gong to die anytime soon. Especially since a lot of sites are talking cameo in Civil War instead of outright part of the storyline now.

Yesterday's news about Tom Rothman (someone whose track record with superhero properties is not good thanks to his tenure at Fox) taking over from Amy Pascal worried a lot of Spider-Man fans. To put it bluntly, pretty much everyone was wondering, "Is he going to *****k up the deal with Marvel?!" Based on a report over at Latino-Review, probably not! They reiterate that Avi Arad and Matt Tolomach are producers in name only, adding: "We have information from a source suggesting there is no financial involvement whatsoever and no direct creative control over Spidey coming from the old guard. Amy Pascal still has a say in the Mom-and-Pop arrangement she has with Feige, but Disney didn’t want to unite Pearlmutter, Arad and Feige in earnest. This is the solution. What does that mean? It means Marvel might have a bit more control than we thought. It means the new Spider-Man has been insulated from BOTH Avi Arad and new Sony head, superhero property curse, Tom Rothman." This is obviously very good news, and backs up a lot of what we've been hearing over the past few weeks.

People are way too harsh with that DP version, but if you think about it, it was a very comicbooky thing to do.

Before he was DP in that movie, Ryan Reynolds completely killed it with the Wade Wilson character, his scenes as Wade are top notch, then they gave him a **** ton of powers and they closed his mouth!!! that was so ironic and extreme it's hilarious, it was totally Deadpool-esque... For an alternative version of DP, which is exactly what it is now, it's pretty great.

In another sign that Marvel and Sony are blending their universes both in front and behind the camera, sources have Drew Goddard named as both the writer and director of the upcoming reboot of the Spider-man films. The source comes from Latino Review, so that means it has about a fifty/fifty chance of being true, but it sounds on the money considering the recent developments with Marvel properties.

You may recall that Goddard was slated to write and produce Marvel's DAREDEVIL series at Netflix. While he helped write, he was replaced by Steven DeKnight when Goddard was named as the director on Sony's SINISTER SIX spin-off. Now, with THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN franchise dead, Goddard can bridge the world of Sony and Marvel Studios with what is being tentatively called THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN.

The rumors also suggest that the condition for Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios to get involved was only if Avi Arad were to be removed from serving as producer on the project. Aside from that, it looks like Sony is scrapping all of their proposed spin-offs and the new film will focus on Spider-man fighting the Sinister Six. Here are some other details from the source.

New actor, probably an unknown, he will be specifically based in High School and they want him to be able to grow up into the role. The thought being if this works, Spidey can do multiple trilogies for years ala Harry Potter.

Now if they aren't going to do an origin story and this pans it it'd pretty ensure Peter Parker right? Introducing Miles would require an origin because their origins are different, and I doubt they'd simply overlay Peter's origin over Miles' character. Although it doesn't clear up any race issues of Peter Parker but if this is true it'd essentially lock Peter Parker as the Spider-Man on film.
