Re: Marvel Studios/Sony: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

If LR's scoop is true, a few things: 1) Daredevil must've shaped up nicely if they're willing to give Goddard scribe duty on Spidey, 2) Marvel must've liked a lot of Goddard's S6 work enough to incorporate elements of it in the reboot, and 3) hiring a novice director probably means Fiege/Pascal will be heavily involved throughout the process and they don't want a director who'll push back

Big plans...what could go wrong?

Re: Marvel Studios/Sony: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

So it's officially "Spectacular Spider-Man"? I like it.

As for the Miles/Peter debate... If they introduce Miles before Peter, that will be the first major mistake marvel studios has made... I don't mind Miles being involved eventually, but not right away or before Peter... I also don't want Peter to be a black kid. Not being racist, but casting a black guy in a white guy role just to do it is a stupid reason to do it. They always do this crazy stuff to make sure people aren't confused, well that would confuse the hell out of a lot of people... Not to mention piss alot of the bigger fans off royally.

This is probably true, Marvel Studios has done it before and I'm sure with something as big ticket as Spider-Man, Feige wants to call the shots. Now whether that's good or bad waits to be seen.

I'm sure after Edgar's situation with them, Feige and the studio are taking all precautions to prevent another mutiny... They just have to realize it's for the greater good.

Re: Marvel Studios/Sony: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

Sounds good I like it .

Re: Marvel Studios/Sony: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

I probably would have gone just "Spider-Man:_______" Similar to the way they handle short term titles. Something like "Spider-Man: The Hunt" or "Spider-Man: The Sinister Six" or something like that would have been fine. Although I guess it's better than "Web of Spider-Man" or "The Marvelous Adventures of Spider-Man"

Re: Marvel Studios/Sony: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

They could also just go with Marvel's Spider-Man, though I imagine Sony may have issue with that. Maybe Marvel's Spider-Man Presented by Sony :lol

Re: Marvel Studios/Sony: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

How much control does Sony still have with spider-man anyway?

This is almost a strange role-reversal of the mid-90's when Marvel was bankrupt, struggling from over-inflating themselves and had to contract out all of their characters for ridiculous movie deals just to meet end's meet and "put food on the table".

Now Sony Pictures, who has essentially bombed out, has taken HUGE financial losses, on top of being hit by the whole "The Interview/North Korea" hacking scandal that essentially marred all their top executives, has to sign on the dotted line to regain some sort of ground and Marvel is the big guy with all the money and right ideas this time around.

I really think Sony is on the soft side of this all. They'll have a voice in the room, but won't always be listened to. They probably won't have as much control as one would expect. Basically Sony should just shut up, sit in the corner and be happy they're getting money out of this in the first place.
