If in fact Marvel DOES get Superman...well that might just be the end of anything enjoyable from either DC or Marvel!

First, what does the Superman liscense imply? Does DC lose the rights to the entire Superman family (i.e. Power Girl, Super Girl, Superman Prime, Kingdom Come Superman, Krypto....and anything stemming from Krypton)? If so half the DCU just dissapears! The Trinity is now a Duo? Lame

Second, what the heck is MARVEL going to do with Superman? Exactly two people in the standard Marvel U can be matched against him. Hulk, and Sentry. Now I dont know about you, but I might get a little bored reading about Superman Vs. Hulk Vs. Sentry! That might get boring fast. Sure there are magic users and all...but come on.

Third...how do they introduce him? "Oh readers...by the way...Superman has always existed in the Marvel U"? Maybe a little deal with Mephisto? If Superman actually COMES from an alternate DC unverse and lands in Marvel..that means his greatest weakness (kryptonite) stays behind and the man of Steel is unbeatable!

ummmm, Gladiator!?...........

ummmm, Gladiator!?...........

Yeah I said standard Marvel U though. Gladiator is galactic Universe. Which tend to stay fairly seperate. Superman wouldnt work in the Galactic Marvel U for the same reason he is almost soley Earth bound in DCU....no yellow Sun...no power.

But yes, Silver Surfer, Galactus, Gladiator....those guys stand a chance. Also magic users. My point though was that DCU is filled with super powered Gods. Look through the DCU encyclopedia and like 50% of the characters have "invulnrability" as a power. Look through the Marvel U counterpart and you will not see Invulnrability once save someone like Apocolypse might say "nearly indistructable".

I did think of a couple good things that would stem from Superman moving to Marvel:

SIDESHOW SUPERMAN PF!!!!
Hulk vs. Superman Diorama!!!

I'd hate to see Superman in the Marvel U, even if it was Thor beating him into a pulp all the time.

Never liked supes to be honest he IMO lacks the bada$$ gene . If they get him. I want the first comics title to read "SUPERMAN, NOT SO SUPER?" and have hulk or Thor standing on top of him

What's Batman going to do if he doesn't have Superman to hang out with? I don't like Superman, but I love Batman so I enjoy reading their team ups and stuff.

DC losing the Superman license isn't as cut and dry as that. The complaint coming from the family is that DC/WB are dragging their feet to not make a film therefore costing them money. In 2013, the Siegels, along with the estate of Joe Shuster, will own the entire original copyright to Superman, and neither DC Comics nor Warner Bros. will be able to exploit any new Superman works without a license from the Siegels and Shusters, that includes comics, cartoons, direct to video movies or actual theater releases.

The thing is only the copyright for Superman would revert back to the Siegels in 2013, but DC would remain the holder of the Trademark on just about everything that is related to Superman - the suit, the S-shield, the font type used for the name and all the ancillary characters. So, the Siegels could license out the name of Superman to Marvel or Dark Horse, but it would pretty much have to be a brand new character because DC would still own everything else.

One of the other interesting parts of the case was where the judge said that the Siegel estate could sue DC/Time Warner for damages if a new movie is not started/released by 2012, as part of their licensing agreement.

Now Superman could be the Terrell Owens of the Comic Book world. For years Spider-Man has been the poster child for Marvel, before the movies he was always the icon, while they use the current movie characters to promote them they always go back to webhead. You think the estates will want Superman as a second tier? No, they'll want him right at the forefront. That'll cause waves. They'll push him hard which might muck up the Marvel world. Not to mention they'll want a movie right away. They'll want a ton of merchandising to match DC's which would be interesting to juggle especially because if he moves from DC it'll kill any current stuff not already paid for so no more Superman statues, figures, clothing past the 2013 marketing year.

If Superman moves from DC and the demands are too high I could see a lesser company willing to take him because they want the headache in exchange for the eventual profit. Just like good ol' T.O.

Holy crap! That is massive news! Maybe Marvel Movie studios can do a decent movie? I wonder what this means for the supporting cast and villians? I mean, if there's anything to it.

Well my guess is that only Superman would be covered under this deal. Any characters created by DC as a supporting cast to Supes will most likely remain property of DC. I would guess that DC wouldnt be too keen on giving them away either, since it would only make it easier for another company to make money off of the Superman character.
