They need to make a non-Marvel movie with an all black cast to really test that "myth." Though there have been all black casts in the past that have done well, not THIS well of course, but you have the Marvel fans in there buying tickets too.

Agree IMO the box office for this is kind of weird. Overall reading comments online without the *tears of joy* and hype this movie seems to be a 7/10, loosely. Good, not great.

Who knows what it would have done without being a "statement movie" or not connected to the MCU. Also there just doesn't seem to be much out to see right now. Can't compute the skin color thing - a good movie is a good movie.

But after tripping over this article and watching the razor-sharp clearness of the Ragnarok BR I'm gonna wait on BP hoping they use some of that billion to improve the home release CGI. Might as well instead of watching the floaty end fight.

You were never going to see this movie in the first place. Regardless of how good or bad the CG was going to be. But you'll sure type about it.

Regardless what anyone thinks there is now a solo superhero movie without batman and iron man that crossed a billion. I wonder what movie going forward will take that accomplishment now. WW2?

Yeah..I'm not sure if movies with predominantly white casts do well either...we should test that myth by releasing a movie with an all white cast that does not include Marvel, Star Wars, Super-Heroes, Dinosaurs, James Cameron, or live action Disney characters...

You don't get it man, good cinema doesn't exist anymore! There's no movie out there that makes more than a billion because it's actually a good movie, it's just because it has propaganda attached to it!

There's always a reason why a movie makes a billion and beyond other than simply that the movie is good.

Holy crap I didn’t realize that BP is the ONLY MCU movie to remain # 1 on its 4th weekend!

Chris o mighty the only one sheesh. The last time that happened was TFA the 2nd maybe the 1st most anticipated SW movie ever after TPM ok that’s nuts.

That level of support can’t be coming from the white community can it I mean Khev, JAWS and I combined saw it less than 5 times lol.

Finally saw this last night, and in a Dolby Vision cinema, so no way I could've experienced it any better. And the theater was pretty empty. Maybe 15% filled at best, so no annoying people or distractions like a movie is meant to be viewed. Just like I thought, all the hoopla is way overblown. Just like Wonder Woman, this movie is mediocre to good at best. Not great like the media and people suggest. Everything I felt I'd like or dislike from the trailers stayed true. I'd rate it around Dr. Strange in my MCU list, which is mid tier or just above at best.

I found a lot of problems with this movie, as did the 2 friends I saw it with (We're all old guys with families).. I find the problem is, there is really no proper way to critique this movie without sounding or coming across as racist since it's a predominately black movie. And that's a shame. It's very hard to find genuine reviews, and those that I have I agree a lot with when the shortcomings are discussed.

The best character and most entertaining by far for me was Klaue... Another Marvel villain wasted. His arm cannon was very cool. Bilbo was good 2 as the only other tolkien wink1 characters.. I aslo don't get the love for Killmonger. I thought he was a boring one note typical villain character who want's nothing but unwarranted vengeance against people that had nothing to do with his anger. Glad he's dead and gone. Boseman was great again as BP, just like he was in CW, but did seem less regal at times. A lot of strong characters and actors, but the story still fell short for me. Not gonna get into a full review... Don't want to be labeled a racist like so many people love to throw around these days when a white male doesn't like something that's "diversified". If anyone responds, please be kind. Not looking to rain on anyone's parade...

Is BP the first and only super hero character to debut with a billion dollars? Is there another one that's made a billion in their first outing? Also, it still has a 97% on RT, which makes it the highest rated super hero film ever, beating TDK.

I 've seen some websites comparing Killmonger to Ledger's joker and asking who's the better villain...
