For quality I'd put LOTR above SW OT. But if I had to make a "desert island" selection then nothing tops SW.

Hmmm interesting.. I get where you are coming from and I think 10 years ago I would have agreed.

But now I really don't think the quality of LOTR is better then ANH. I really don't think its as good as ESB.

LOTR is great and I love it but IMO they have lost some of their luster and have not aged as well. However FOTR is still the best of the series IMO and of the three films it has aged the best... ROTK has some great moments but it has some of the series worst.

Now ROTJ brings down the quality of the OT series for sure and TTT does not bring down the quality at all as far as film making goes. So I guess as a full series you have to say LOTR is better quality. But ROTJ is a better movie then TTT to me. As I mentioned before Jedi has great moments. Some of the best in the series. TTT offers nothing but Golum. Story wise its a bore and it offers the worst action set pieces of the three films IMO.

Again I still love LOTR... But I just watched the films again a couple of weeks ago and was a bit board by it all and found some parts very cringe inducing.

As for dessert Island. OT rules over all film series.

I think it all boils down to taste, personally. I find all SW films after 1983 bad and bland with the exception of ROTS because to me they didn't look or feel like anything different from previous Star Wars films, so in a way, I think those films are to me what Pirates 5 is to you. At the very least Javier Bardem's character was pretty cool IMO.

My good friend this is the 2nd time you mentioned the SW films after 1983 not being as good as the Pirate films.. That is like saying you prefer a broken arm over a broken leg or visa versa.

Other then RO I cant fault anyone for not getting into the PT and NT.

I wish I could get invested in RO. Much like the prequels it had good ideas on paper but was mostly ruined by a questionable execution IMO. Other than Vader I was bored to the core with all of it.

We were talking trilogy so that’s why I brought up LOTR.

Now Khev cheated and inserted RO into the mix as RO/ANH/ESB/ROTJ.

ROTJ definately needs RO to pick up the slack.

50% of ROTJ is pretty bad but yes like JAWS said the good half of ROTJ is REALLY GOOD some of the best in the series BUT....

LOTR EE is not something to take lightly what PJ accomplished there is some master class filmmaking especially with the over the top EE releases just insane filmmaking.

BUT as masterful as LOTR were and still remain (shame on you JAWS they still hold up) nothing in the history of cinema has impacted society like the OT did, NOTHING!

OT changed my life it changed millions of lives.

OT IS LIFE ITSELF

So yes OT wins and it will ALWAYS WIN!
