I'm sure Avatar 2 will probably do Wolf Warrior 2 numbers overseas but I've got to wonder how it will fare in the States. Ready Player One is a very Avatar-ish film that is struggling to find an audience and that's with it having characters that are arguably more memorable and likable than the ones in Avatar.
Avatar blew me away as well but by the time that the high end collectibles hit (HT Jake and Neytiri PF) I was pretty much over it. After I bought my 3D TV in 2014 I picked up the 3D blu-ray, watched it once, and not again since. It's not a bad film by any means but it just doesn't have any lasting resonance or fan appeal at all for me. The only reason I'm curious about the next one is just to see what new technical tricks Cameron has up his sleeve.
James Cameron is gathering the infinity stones as we speak. When Abatah 2 comes out, with them trailers, and the tag line reminding you all of his previous sequel, "from the visionary mind that brought you the sci-fi classic, Terminator 2 :Judgement Day", pants will get wet.

When Avatar 2 and 3 fail, watch Cameron announce he's doing T3... a genuine T3.
I saw Avatar once when it came out. It along with Rogue One are probably two of the most boring films I've ever seen.
I saw it once too, then heard there was a storm coming, and that it wasn't going to be playing in a few states. The film was clearly heading into the abyss, with an opening that was below average, so I thought it was game over man, but it kept making money, which stopped the film from sinking like the Titanic, and the studio telling Cameron, "You're Fired!."
For a second there I read it as Blackman
