My favorite thing about BP is actually related to TLJ!

Ok so everyone is now aware just how massive massive massive massive a success BP is, right.

Ok good.

BP still hasn’t passed TLJ global box office yet and it probably won’t at this point.

Remember when TLJ box office was being used to showcase just how much of a massive massive massive massive failure it was lol

If you compare every movie that makes 1.3 billion to TFA they will all look like failures when the focus should really be on the fact that it made 1.3 billion which 99.9% of films will never come close to achieving that.

Hell TFA then should be considered a massive failure when compared to Avatar, a SW movie 1 billion less than Avatar.

TLJ was:

- mainline "Star Wars trilogy" film
- first sequel to highest grossing domestic release of all-time
- first appearance of Luke Skywalker in 35 years
- opening in the most lucrative box office period of the year

BP was:

- based on a second or third tier MCU character
- an all-black comic book movie, so considered limited appeal
- opening in the box office doldrums of February
- features no cameos by favorite MCU characters at all

TLJ made about $300-400m less than it was expected to, burning through the good will of TFA and possibly poisoning Ep IX (as sequel films perform on the good will of the previous entry.)

BP made about $700-800m more than it was expected to. It should have landed somewhere in the range of the first Cap or Thor with around $180-200m domestic and $250m overseas ("black films" are perceived to have less appeal overseas)

TLJ should have made $1.6B-1.7B worldwide (still $400-500m short of TFA) but barely crossed $1.3B - adjusted for inflation, it was $800m less than TFA. BP should have made $450m worldwide but instead made $800m more than the first Captain America.

Did you choose Natural Medium Brown, Dark Blend or Ash Brown-Black? The clothing and hair color options come up right after you start your projection, and before you choose weapons and outfits.

you aer lucky dude. Pacific Rim 2 will make you wonder if you should quit going to the theater forever. It seriously makes you wonder what is the point of driving and playing 14 bucks to be tortured for 2 hours
