I laughed way too hard at that.
The producers attempted to secure the rights to include several references to Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977). Disney, the actual owner of the franchise, allowed it but Steven Spielberg chose to downplay the Star Wars connections because that franchise was in the midst of its sequel and spin-off series.
Don't worry there are still awesome moments that crows hasn't spelled out yet, lol. But even once the movie was over and I knew every surprise I immediately wanted to see it again. And then after the second time I *still* want to see it again. It's not just the surprises (which are awesome) but what they *do* with the surprises that made the movie for me.
One thing that really annoyed me about Last Action Hero is that they established that the main bad guy could pull literally any character from the history of cinema to battle Jack Slater and who does he choose? Effing lame *** raincoat guy, lol. Yeah Spielberg does NOT make that same mistake. He delivers the goods many times over.
