Dunno what the "growing need for diverse movies" is - for one thing, didn't we always have all kinds of people? Or is this "there's a growing need for diverse movies" because Hollywood is looking to tap the lucrative international market?

Comments like this completely ignore that any movie leading into IW would probably sell tickets.

It’s the media propagating and promoting that “need for diversity”. I’ve never heard anyone really stand up and say we need more Black/Asian/Hispanic/Etc. Superheroes. It stems mostly from the corporate world in which there is a strong push for better diversity in the workforce. I work for the Government and can tell you that they’re always pushing diversity. However, the key thing “unsaid” is that diversity doesn’t always equate to talent or strong skills...and some individuals are chosen as leaders for the sake of diversity rather than being the right man/woman for the job.

I do agree that diversity is needed, but this “growing need” in Superhero movies is a myth and made up for the sake of journalism. The only time where this gets dangerous is when we see the studio make RADICAL character changes for the sake of diversity...for example, what if MCU Spidey became a BLACK Peter Parker (not Morales)...or they changed Black Panther to an ASIAN character? They’ve already done it with some of the minor characters (Flash Thompson is now a skinny Indian kid) but when you see it spread to main characters, you know that they’re trying to appease SOMEONE out there.

I couldn't possibly agree with you more. Minor changes in the movies don't bother me much. However, things have gotten out of control in the comics.

Re: Marvels The Black Panther

What's with all the Miami Vice pink colors?

Srsly I think it's just graphics work e.g. it's a color that works against the black and kinda nods to the trailer scene of the "mystic panther moment". Not as harsh or boring as using white or yellow for cover text; blue/purple/green wouldn't stand out; orange or red too extreme.

Surprised they're not just using Marvel's artwork tho like:

in 2017 pink is manly

I like pink and pastel colors.

It's not bad, but I just thought it was a little weird considering the character.

Seems like this whole gender neutral thing has gotten out of hand now they will make all males wear pink and women switch to blue watch lol

hate the music they are using for the trailers... ugh

Kendrick Lamar is doin' a new track for BP

Lamar’s participation in Black Panther isn’t surprising to those who attended Marvel’s San Diego Comic-Con Hall H panel earlier this year. The exclusive clip that Marvel brought along for fans included a trailer set to Lamar’s “DNA,” a popular song off his most recent album, Damn. Both fans in attendance and Twitter users lit up with excitement over the inclusion of Lamar’s inspiring anthem in one of Marvel’s most anticipated movies.

Black Panther’s connection to Lamar’s work goes beyond the artist’s commercial and critical success. Both Coogler and actor Chadwick Boseman (who plays Black Panther in the film) said they felt a personal attachment to “DNA,” leading to its appearance in the trailer.

“The lyrics are amazing — a lot of Kendrick's are," Coogler told the Los Angeles Times in July. "It's actually oddly literal for our trailer's purposes — and I think a lot of the cultural things we're dealing with in Wakanda are in the zeitgeist in the African American community.”

I don't mind the trailer, but I was hoping the soundtrack would pull traditional influences from [a selected] region of Africa vs. being "American-sounding". Or a least some of the soundtrack. I get that some of the characters weren't raised in Wakanda and all that. But the kingdom is in Africa.

A new Black Panther trailer has been confirmed to arrive next week during the College Football Playoff National Championship on ESPN, the sports network which just so happens to be owned by the Walt Disney Corporation. How’s that for some synergy?

Over the New Year’s holiday, a TV spot that played during college football playoff games announced that the final Black Panther trailer will arrive sometime during the College Football Playoff National Championship on January 8. While the game begins at 8pm ET on ESPN, there’s no indication as to when the trailer will premiere, but it will likely be highly publicized throughout the game. No matter when it debuts, we’ll be sure to post it online immediately after it debuts....

Speaking of Black Panther in theaters, it appears that we now have an idea of just how long we’ll be watching the Wakanda superhero on screen next month. A new listing on EventCinemas.com (via ScreenRant) indicates that the movie clocks in at 2 hours 15 minutes. That sounds like the expected length for a Marvel Studios movie. It’s on par with last year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming (2 hours 13 minutes), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2 hours 16 minutes) and Thor: Ragnarok (2 hours 10 minutes). However, that’s not official yet, so the final runtime could be slightly different.
