A YT comment I saw was actually a complaint about Marvel releasing BP in February; why it wasn't released in July 'coz February is considered a dead zone for films.

BP couldn't be more front or back loaded. MCU is on a high after Ragnarok (although I doubt Marvel knew those numbers ahead of time); respected director; good cast (tho IMO Feige went overboard with the gushing re "the best cast we've ever had. Huh. Just - no. MCU has had great casts all along; award winners and all; if it weren't for the incandescent RDJ and IM1 there wouldn't even BE an MCU and no Black Panther movie probably since IM1 kick-started it all. Also, bosses of anything shouldn't say **** like that).

IW being released a few months later I suspect accounts for *some* of the ticket sales. Not all for sure, but think it's a factor. Bein' the first to see those credit scenes and tweet. The (probably) futile hope of seeing Cap & co. or Thanos.

Maybe it was inevitable but there's too much dumbassery IMO around this film (at least in the U.S.). It's un-fun. And like the posted comment, sometimes nauseating. Yeah, I'll sit opening weekend out, probably. (For sure any fan events). Getting tickets isn't an issue where I live - plenty of theaters. And plenty of diversity (and money) so it's not that the "racist" white/Asian/Hispanic/Eskimo/Arabs whatever are not buying all the seats up. Tickets seem to be selling well - in general just as not as well as TLJ for the fan event.

Not tryin' to make a statement. I just wanna enjoy myself at a film without a bunch of flack in my head. LOL there'll be "room for other folks to have their moment". Also, so far, the story just isn't grabbing me. Maybe the trailers finally are hiding a lot (like the IW trailer doesn't show much, really) but while in Africa, as someone posted, someone coming home might have meaning for the narrative, for me it's been done before.

Guy goes to war and comes home and the kingdom etc. has gone to ****. IMO there's some sketchy CGI in the trailers. They keep showing the same car flip thing even in the last TV spot. I just got tired before the film even came out.

Figure any IW-type stuff will show up online 1/2 an hour after the fan events, if not before. I'll make more of an effort if comments etc. it's really a good film and not another Dark World e.g. not bad, but not worth a huge effort. I mean, I keep reading posts re "how great this movie is gonna be" and how "IM should move over" but who the hell knows yet? There's no guarantee with movies.

Guess I'll find out if, like with Ragnarok, review embargoes lift early. Maybe I'll be sorry I didn't line up for the Thursday preview showing.
