He could be. :dunno

I wasn't serious, and that wasn't bait either. :lol

I know that, but the others may not. Just wanted to point out that The Darkness is an entity that possess people so the movie could take place in Mexico and its protagonist could be Latino. :)

That niccuh ain't even Mexicuhhhhh brahh!!!

I don't care, there aren't many good Mexican actors anyway.

At least there weren't at the time that movie was made.

And instead of the Mafia it could be Cartels? I like it, I was thinking about a way of making it contemporary, and that could be it.

Otherwise it'd have to be in the 90's or 80's to make it work with good old Spanish Estacado and the Franchetti family.

I even thought about a teaser trailer: Jackie's hanging at the club with a couple drunk models under each arm, having a good time, laughing it off, then he suddenly gets a call, tips Jenny, gets into his luxurious sports car with a girl, goes into a dark parking lot where his next target is, hits the dude with some highlights, and the dude is like wtf, BAM! one in the head as the gunshot syncs up to the song just before the chorus, Jackie goes back to the car, while he's emanating a slight black smoke and you catch a glimpse of his glowing yellow eyes, Jackie drives up to the sun rise. "No need to ask, he's a smooth operatoooooor, smooooth operatoooor" as the song hits a creepy tone and the camera pans up to the still kinda dark sunrise sky and the title The Darkness appears. :lol

Baggy suits and everything.

I realized I like making trailers in my head.

And the movie itself would be sort of like Scarface of course.

...****. I didn't get past #10 (it's on my backlog, since my recreational time is devoted to LOST at the moment) and I always assumed due to the surname ending in a vowel, that he was Italian. Plus, there was the whole Mafia thing and all... Eh, either way, bants aside it doesn't make a difference. I'd go nuts for a Banderas Darkness movie.

Honestly, we need more anti-hero/swasbuckler comic flicks. Darkness, Spawn, Midnighter/Authority/WildCATS, Hitman, Nikolai Dante, whatever.

I'll believe there's a Spawn sequel when my *** is sitting in the theater seat before the movie starts :lol

Todd's working on a low budget horror Spawn reboot, which will star Sam & Twitch, with Spawn being a silent monster that appears once or twice. It's gonna be ****. It's gonna happen because he teamed up with Blumhouse, but it's gonna be ****.

The name always sounded weird to me to be Italian, plus he was adopted, Spanish names end in vowels too, my first last name does, had it been Estacatto, or Estaccato or something like that, then it would've been Italian, but Estacado with a "D" sounds Spanish to me.

And then Sonatine recalled in the early issues that he had an ancestor who was a pirate name Miguel Estacado I think? And Miguel is a Spanish name.

Ah, here it is: https://thedarkness.wikia.com/wiki/Miguel_Estacado

I honestly find it more interesting that he is Spanish descent, since Spanish history involves the Inquisition, the Conquest and such, lends itself more for esoteric ****.

I'm afraid they would be neutered nowadays, the 90's was prime time for it.

But yeah, hope dies last.

Doesn't sound too bad to me, it's a good place to start, the last thing we need is another full-on Superhero movie.

Hmm, good point, never thought about that.

I don't mind, really. The more ethnically different Euro-characters, the merrier. And with the whole lineage bit you really could do some very interesting stuff with it. I was always a fan of those Alts, like Spawn's Curse of Spawn, Gunslinger Spawn, etc, etc.

I really have to finish these sometime. My hard drive keeps filling, but my time keeps shrinking...

Depends. Someone like Midnighter wouldn't fly, because the SJWs would find him "problematic". Which is a shame since he's pure fun. Devlin Waugh wouldn't work for the same reason. Somebody like Nikolai Dante could work, but I don't think there's a market for Swashbucklers. WildCATS could be an underground hit if done right.

I don't mind the horror angle, but having Spawn not make a single appearance is just cheap if you name the movie after him. I get that they want to test the waters first, see if it becomes an underground hit and then make a bigger flick next time, but... I just want some Spawn action...

EDIT: Marvel got Conan back.

New TV spot but don't watch if you wanna see spoiler-free. Nothing earth shaking but guess someone heard the whines (including my own) that the same action shots were getting used over and over. Also don't watch if you're still irate over all these women running around 'coz the Dora Milaje are, in fact, women.

IMO believably badass women. I may have to change my mind re going opening weekend. I also predict after this film there will be an uptick in folks getting kendo lessons.
