They really want people to see this, the marketing is insane. I’m sure Disney was afraid because Panther wasn’t an elite recognized superhero to non comic fans that it could lose a big part of the audience. This way whether a person likes BP or even knows about him, they will remember the film :lecture

This could either work like it did for GOTG or fail

there's no way this movie is going to fail. I wouldn't be surprised if it surpassed most of the Marvel openings save Avengers or something.

Some of the reviews praising this are completely embarrassing.

NEPHEW DELETE THIS

I don’t doubt it..but it’s hard to tell nowadays especially the society we live in now. Maybe the African influence this film is messaging might be too much for some audiences :dunno

*Shrug.* I figure Marvel ran the numbers and made its choices. They could've easily thrown in some 5-10 minutes of Cap/Bucky/Wanda or some Thanos Outriders and someone like me who was dying for some CW follow-up (which Homecoming had) would line up. Instead evidently it's like Guardians and pretty stand alone. Either way Marvel wins and is already praised for diversity. Meanwhile I'm back to waiting on IW. Marvel wins either way. No-one can accuse the company of not giving BP all.

There's so many clips out I am waiting for someone to make a vid and I'll have seen the film, pretty much.

Yeah, i choked on the one about Michael Jordan causing the reviewer to weep. Just not seeing that happen.

What is it with these reviewers? Same thing about folks in China cryin' at JL footage.

Funniest tweet was posted on Channel 5 morning news and started by calling this wonderful "gay parade"... :lol I guess because of the vibrant costumes.

No desire to see this. It will go with Dr. Strange and Spiderman into my "watch on FXX" one day.

You just KNOW this movie will get 100% RT score. No one will criticize it out of fear for their safety. I'm going to watch it but figure it won't be a top 3 MCU addition.

One guy will give it negative review:

That is SO been there, done that:monkey3 and by Boseman himself, yet. Not that I disrespect Boseman 'coz all these actors have had roles they don't talk about. At least they were gettin' paid.

Guess no-one brings up the "vibrant" Gods of Egypt either out of politeness or because it's just so bad it's not even a guilty pleasure. Man I wish I had editing software. I could stick Tony Stark in there b******* about Bucky and "your father dropped his guard" etc.

I actually liked God of Egypt. :dunno

are we sure it's not because that movie was bad? :lol

LOL :lol well, I'm not sure. It's impossible to get a read on BP right now (for me) but I give VF credit for a slight caution about the reviews...

Black Panther is the greatest movie of all time, according to scores of fans who haven’t seen the film in theaters yet. For the past year, anticipation has been nothing short of breathless, with diehards re-tweeting every morsel of information about Marvel’s first black superhero film. Now, at long last, social reactions are out from the lucky few who have actually laid eyes on the movie—and, as expected, they loved every second of it.

These early responses range from highly complimentary to completely astounded, indicating that Marvel’s got a monster hit on its hands. Their reactions should be taken with a smidge of salt, since early screenings of films like these are aimed at friendly crowds predisposed to effusive love—and the majority of critics haven’t seen the movie yet. Still, it wouldn’t be surprising if the hype holds up, either. This wouldn’t be the first time the studio’s released a blockbuster—but the ecstatic early rumblings around Black Panther, coupled with the fact that it marks T’Challa’s first solo film, make this superhero story a particular force to be reckoned with.

I'm more cautious in that I've seen clips where the CGI was startling and not in a good way IMO; also a critic comment that the movie is actually more a drama than an action movie (which for me was a bit surprising). Dunno whether that's bad or good.:dunno

https://screenrant.com/black-panther-review-embargo-date-release/

The you-shall-not-post-on-social-media wall will lift at 1 AM EST on January 30th, a full 18 days before the movie hits theaters. The embargo on actual reviews, meanwhile, lifts at 12 PM EST on February 6th, 10 days before Black Panther arrives on the big screen.

For the most part, these dates are in keeping with the MCU’s recent history of opening up their films to critics well in advance. Of their last four releases, Doctor Strange’s embargo went up 12 days ahead of its release, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2′s went up 11 days ahead, Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s was 8 days, and Thor: Ragnarok‘s was opened up just over 2 weeks in advance. That last one was a bit of an outlier, as Marvel actually moved up its release date in a display of supreme confidence that the movie would be a critical darling. A similar fate could still await Black Panther, but in the meantime, it’s found itself in a comfortable middle ground amongst its MCU brethren.

Finally, BP confirmed for two credit scenes; details will probably leak soon:monkey3

I just...didn't. But a lot of people liked Pacific Rim, for instance, and I was rooting for the kaiju through the whole thing.

I liked it as well. I'll probably go to the new one if I can. I like a lot of movies other don't like. Don't care. :D
