He's great in the role and different enough from all previous live action Punishers.
I like them all tho, even Lundqren's...

I don't know exactly what it is. There's just something about Bernthal as an actor or a person that I just don't like. It always seems like he's trying too hard.

I think he’s doing great as Castle but I hope he doesn’t come out on stage at NYCC with that same line he’s used 5 x before already about doing the character justice because the character means so much to the military and law enforcement community.

Ok we get it already lol.

I'm not the guy's biggest fan, but so far I really do like his portrayal of Punisher. I'm not sure how I'll feel after getting overdosed with 10 hours of him in his own show, though. Seems like he might work better in smaller doses.

This, when he screams they might as well give him heavy metal background music... Oh wait.

I like Bernthal even when I don't like him. If he ever gets grating, I just take all that frustration and project it into my hatred for Bernthal lite, Miles Teller, whom I already harbor great disdain for.

He really said that?

That's...odd. Frank is an unstable sociopath/psychopath :lol

Not exactly the ideal representative for the military or law enforcement.

Thomas Jane is still my favorite Punisher, but Netflix version had better dialogue and a better story.

American Sniper, most celebrated modern war hero, was famous for his use of the Punisher logo.

Jane is also my favorite Punisher movie but I also see quality in the Netflix adaptation.

All portrayals have had some merit. Lundgren had the overly driven to brink of being completely unhinged, Jane had the raw emotion of a man who just everything and struggles with going forward in his war and losing any chance of redemption, Stevonson had the middle ground where he still tried to be the protector but was becoming the unstoppable killing machine. Bernthal is unhinged and raw but has the drive to kill his enemies no matter the cost and uses people to get closer to his target. Like them all for what they bring to the table.

True. Its also a shame that none of the film versions got the opportunity to really shine and evolve.

I remember years ago when there were rumors of HBO picking up a Punisher show. Jane would've been great had the powers that be let the property grow... Instead of retelling the same but different origin story over and over again.

Yep he would have been able to bring some more depth to the character. The directors cut was a lot better when he deals with jimmy weeks for betraying him and is sexually one of my favorite scenes. What could have been but will never be. I like bernthal in the role and I am hoping the show is great with hardly any filler. After this season though he should really go to guest starring status to keep him becoming watered down.

Back in the early 90's, I had a really cool Punisher poster, but I can't find pics of it anywhere. He had two guns, one of them pointing to the ground, and his right leg was on some kind of rock/ledge. It was an odd pose, but it looked cool. The sky/background was red, and the poster had many tiny skull logos all around the edges with "The Punisher" name on the bottom.
