Definitely a bad move... And it's making people nervous about ThunderCats too...
Nothing, Mattel didn't even have a Logo sign in their booth, zero MOTUC presence...

That is odd. Maybe they just want to avoid fan stuff from now on as it too much of a headache for them or they just didn't see the need to be there.

You are having fun though yes? The evenings in the bar is where the fun really starts I would think. :)

I don't know why the chicken little's at the con won't ask the four horsemen themselves about what is exactly going on with MOTU Classics,Filmation and Thundercats...I mean, you can't ask them at their booth? They know what's up as they sculpt the figures and 2017 product is surely already sculpted and ready for show at SDCC.They don't have to give us any names, just gives us a NOD 'Yes' it will continue in 2017

Galactiboy, let me see if I can pickup one,
Disappointing news so far for MOTUC, the Mattel guys know nothing, they just worked on the SheRa Exclusive, so no info, no updates, no protos, not even teasers... If anything, they might make 12" figure MOTU, but will depend on how well the SheRa sells...

Will keep reporting if anything happens

Thanks man, much appreciated.

They do sometimes jump out ahead of Mattel. I remember asking them about a DCUC line up at sdcc and they mentioned that Phantom Stranger was supposed to be on display...I don't think Mattel debuted that figure for another year at least.

Why on earth would the Four Horsemen say anything they are not supposed to? They are contracted by Mattel and it's not up to them say what Mattel products may or may not come out. Basic business guys. ;)

Exactly! WTF?

What was odd though is that both Sideshow and Loyal Subjects, were no shows unfortunately...
As for Mattel, nothing surprises me with them anymore... I've been supporting the line since the beginning and will do so until the end, though!

Toyguru was there to talk about the MOTUC mini comics with Baena and Axel, that was a pretty awesome panel.
Scott shared a lot of concept characters they were expecting to turn into figures, kick ass work!

The guys from Super 7 have a LOT of plans for MOTU, they hinted at something big for SDCC, and that vehicles and/or playsets are a possibility!

Also, DC sort of confirmed that the MOTU Comics aren't completely over, so, even if Classics ends, there'll be plenty of media and collectibles going around at least for some time.
My hope is that the movie enters production at last and that's the jumpstart the franchise needs!

If they are contracted by mattel and can't say anything, then when why did Cornboy just say that the Snake Mountain revision is done and was sent to Mattel 2 months ago and now the ball is in Mattel's court? Though,Toyguru (from interview) believes SM is not gonna happen

The issue is nobody was asking any real questions about why they had nothing to show of MOTUC or Club Grayskull at a Con that is all about MOTU

Speaking to Pop Mahn, I made the suggestion they go back to basics with the comic and just give us good, simple but kick ass stories. What happened if Mekaneck is corners by Lawful and Whiplash, He-Man and trilops have a 10 day long duel, stuff like that.

I guess there was not any mention of the movie what with no one official being there?

Maybe they were never supposed to say anything about Snake Mountain to begin with. They only work for Mattel and cannot be speaking for them. It's as simple as that.
As for why no one bothered to ask "any real questions", who knows, ask the attendees. And who would they ask anyways aside from 4HM?

I think the days of any real interaction with Mattel on MOTU is at an end. Folks were abussive to Scott and then his replacement Kimberly who walked shortly after. Who would want that gig in fairness with all that abuse? Small collector toy line with demanding and abussive fanbase is a not a job for many I should think.

No news on the movie, the only people there that currently work at Mattel are the guys that developed the She-Ra Exclusive.
People asked them several times, and the same answer was, "nothing to report", "ask questions on MattyCollector"

And as Eamon says, the 4H aren't Mattel's representatives, even if they say anything, that can change if Mattel wants...
That happened to Scott several times and was labeled a liar, even though he always said that things in the toy industry change all the time.

I surely wasn't saying they speak for Mattel. Only that they get out ahead of them sometimes...probably by mistake most times. The example I gave was just that. They were told by Mattel that the figure was going to be shown at SDCC. Having not been to their booth or either not knowing, Mattel ditched PS at the last minute. The 4H (Cornboy to be exact) thought they had debuted the figure when in fact it was dropped from the line and pushed into the subscription. Again, this figure didn't show up again for almost 2 years if I recall. It was never reported at any con and I suspect he stopped saying it after my brother and I pointed out that the figure in fact was not being displayed. He didn't know why but clearly thought it was. Fans continued to ask if we would get that figure and MC/SN never confirmed it until they officially announced it in the sub...or it might have been announced as part of a later line up but it definitely didn't make the cut that year for the line ups that were being shown that year at SDCC.

To be fair most of the criticism is warranted. If you are going to do a collector line with premium prices compared to retail then fans are going to expect more especially when they are buying into a full year of figures sight unseen. There are many examples we can point back to that had fans up in arms from character selection (Star Sisters, Fighting Foe Men, Mighty Spector, etc.), to quality control (cracked torso on Roboto, reversed shoulders on multiple figures, reversed forearms on Stinkor, black plastic, derpy eyes), to botched fulfillment (Fisto/Sorceress release, Serpentine Hiss), to poor service from Digital River. This hasn't been just a few hickups along the way that fans should reasonably overlook but concerns that have been brought to Mattel's attention over the course of the line and for good reason.

Some fans may not approach Mattel very tactfully with their responses, but Mattel needs to see through to the root of the problem and take that as constructive criticism and feedback from fans. Certainly some of these requests should be dismissed because they are absurd but as a company you should know there are some vocal bad apples in every bunch. To turn the blame back to the negativity surrounding the feedback is just passing the buck. Get your stuff in order and the negativity could be minimized.

Having said all that I think for better or worse Scott's consistency as brand manager and a fan himself kept MOTUC going strong for all these years. Mattel likes to move people around all the time and this has been very evident in the last 18+ months where the Matty Collector team has seemed like a revolving door. I understand that Matty Collector is a drop in the bucket for Mattel compared to their juggernaut retail lines such as Barbie, Hot Wheels, Fisher Price, WWE, Batman/DC, Monster High, etc. that occupy shelf space at stores all over the world. Perhaps this is why we are at this point right now where we don't even know if the line will continue into 2017 or not. They may be in transition between brand managers at Mattel or they may have more pressing matters to address with their retail lines which the brand manager could also be assigned to. I just hope to see someone take the reins by SDCC and address the future of the line and Matty Collector as a whole. Right now the silence is deafening and only fuels the rampant speculation that the lines days may be numbered. I really want to see Snake Mountain and Roton produced and if we get Night Stalker without Stridor that will be utterly disappointing.

I cannot say I disagree with any of that Zodach but still, I cannot imagine being on Matty is a coveted position given all you mentioned. Justified or not, no one wants to deal with abuse if they don't have to.

I do hope we get Roton (even with the no so good redesigned face) and Stridor. Yes, I totally want Snake Mountain but there may also be a slight sense of relief too if it doesn't come out.

Besides Filmation, how many more figures are due to come out or we've seen pics of.
I also wonder if we will get any of those newer characters like Ra-Jar?

They showed everything at NY Toy Fair in February that was due to come out for the rest of the year, but we don't know when the Horde Trooper single pack or Roton are scheduled to be released. Nothing has been confirmed for those yet.

Sorry, but Mattel needs to develop tough skin.If they can't handle the heat (criticism),then get out of the kitchen. They are a business that always has and historically blames their customers for almost everything that goes wrong and then they never want to fix it or actually listen to their customer base, which in turn causes a backlash. It's like they act as if us little sheep should just be grateful that we are getting these toys while we spend our hard earned money on these figures while expecting quality in turn for our money. They need to accept the negativity that's deserved and make themselves better for it instead of stomping their feet and quitting something that they have started.

I just don't think that's realistic thinking Teemu. MOTU is a blip on their radar so it makes little business scene to spend vast amounts of time and resources on such a small brand for them. Do you have any idea how much Hot Wheels, Barbie and Monster High Stuff gets sold not to mention Fisher Price around the world?! MOTU doesn't eve scratch that.

As for Thundercats, Wily Kit and Kat (oddly remaining as kids yet Lion-O did not) look great and I am thinking they will be available on Matty after SDCC also.

Ya gotta love the negativity of fandom. It's like there folks dying to be negative on something. I am referring to the some saying that they were worried about TC being cancelled or something just because nothing was said at Power Con.
With so much cool stuff you'd think there would be more joy amongst fans.
