No, I never inferred any such thing. I inferred that if Johnny asks a genuine question, it should be treated with respect, whether Johnny be a Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, or [insert religious belief here]. Having put three children through public schools, and having a home teaching companion who is going through it right now, I can say with some confidence that that isn't the case today.

:lol

Who said it deserved to be ridiculed? I know I never did. What were we talking about again? What exactly is your point?

:dunno

Ok. Just answer me this so I am clear on what you believe.

Do you believe Creationism ought to be taught in public schools?

Obama had been a state senator for years by that point.

Such as?

Facts are facts.

She'll self-destruct as soon as she overcomes her cowardice of the press.

Sorry Barbie,
No follow up answers for you until I get that Patriot Act example I asked for 3 times.
I hate to deprive you of my wisdom but I have standards in political discourse.
(Even on this board)

Matt Damon is a hypocritical ass hat.
He publicly announced his support for Obama in 2005 when he'd (Obama) only been in the senate for a year. Yet he derides Palins lack of experience.
He goes on to say how frightening her faith is, but he and his like minded ilk worship at the altar of secular humanism which has all the hallmarks of a religion.
They have no problem force feeding everyones kids that crap now do they, and its all funded by joe taxpayer.
The truth is the left is panicked by Palins popularity and they dont know how to counter it.
Theyre starting to go into meltdown mode as the polls continue to go McCains direction. Theyre throwing mud at her to see what sticks.
Id rather have a hockey mom and a war hero face down Putin then 2 lawyers.
Bravo sir.

I think it should be brought up, just like a lot of things being taught have 2 sides.

It would be like teaching the civil war without teaching about what the Confederates were fighting for.

I care, she is an extremist nut who wants to teach kids ridiculous fairy tales instead of science.

This seems to fit the bill but who knows cause she ain't said nothing. She doesn't answer the media questions about her "experience", she doesn't and hasn't specifically talked about her religious beliefs and she just repeats the same condencending crap about her opponents without saying anything of real substance. Has she spoken about her stance on policies? No, hell for that matter McCain has abandoned the real discussions as well...and I like McCain!

She's a media darling right now but it won't last long just like it didn't for Obama. She will have to answer to the burning questions of her record and her beliefs and debate things that she has no knowledge or experience in. And if half the stuff that is out there about her is true, she will fold like a cheap suit.

Tim Russett...why did you die so soon?!?!? I would love to see her vetted on Meet the Press by the man himself.

My $.02 and I'm out...cause I hate political threads.

Oh yeah one more thing, just like its a good chance that Johnny Mac might die in office, there's a good chance some "pro-american" wack job may assasinate Obama and I would sure rather have Biden in office than Palin...I'm just saying...

As a defined curriculum that posits any one notion of the creation as a course of study? No. As a subject that is allowed to be [briefly] discussed if a sincere, non-argumentative question arises? Yes.

When there is serious scientific evidence that Dinosaurs lived 6,000 years ago then I agree. A school is a place for academics, not for faith based beliefs.

:clap damn right.

Where is it not allowed to be discussed? If a teacher is insensitive to creationism that is the schools problem. I hardly see a need to legislate it into a curriculum. I am still not sure on what you feel we so strongly disagree on that you calling into question my level of faith (I assume thats what your remarks about my POV being "amazing" were touching on).

She has a big interview with Charles Gibson on ABC in a day or two.
The debates should provide the answers most are looking for.

As I said, I am puzzled by the fact that you applauded barbelith's attempt to equate belief in the creation with belief that the world is flat. His (bigoted) premise is that both are antiquated, primitive beliefs that have been superseded by science.

He was drawing a parallell that I think is valid. If you make room for creationism, why not make room for belief that the sun revolves around the earth? Or that blacks are that color because God was angry at them?

Where do you draw the line? Can you pick and choose what aspects of the bible should be taught and which to leave out? What about other faiths? Should their views be taught as well? If so, how are we going to cram that into a curriculum which only has 180 days to teach effectively. Who is going to pay for the materials to teach principals which have their root in a specific religion?

You guys are crucifying Sarah Palin for her views that both should be taught and yet now asking where is it not allowed to be discussed. According to you guys it shouldn't be taught in school at all.

Creationism is different than taking the Bible literally.

Creationism is not mutually exclusive from evolution.

All I mean by creationism is to suggest that its possible that whatever started the whole thing could have been by a god.

Also, sports, chess, choir, A/V and yearbook are not academic either yet their in schools. "Liberal rights" are not academic yet I had plenty of teachers "teach" me about stuff like abortion rights, gay rights, woman rights, animal rights, equal opportunity, etc.

I am not saying they don't belong, but its contradictory to say all these secular non academic "beliefs" can stay but religion cannot.

Whats not academic about civil rights and the law? I would say that is very academic. The study of current events is also an ACADEMIC matter and as such have a place in the schools.

Creationism is not.

"Discussion" is not the same as making room in the curriculum and providing materials to teach.
