I hope you will too. Mattel stance is they will not re-release these at all. But there was a time that Hasbro wouldn't re-release their wally exclusives either but they eventually did. So here's hoping they show up in two packs or as All-Star figures somewhere.

Mattel has been re-releasing some of the figures with the blue stands. Here's hoping they will release Atom again (he's the only one from Wave 5 I've wanted). Bummer for me on not being able to complete Metallo (I only have the head and torso and the other pieces have just been skyrocketing on the aftermarket).

Well, they claim they will not release these as as All-Stars with the stands, but anything is possible.

Maybe the almighty Walmart will concede if enough folks make it known that these are sorely still needed.

Now the series 10 figs are gonna be twice as hard to get seeing as series 5's prices have entered high into the scalper stratos sphere.

I'll try to snag some Wave 10. Hopefully they will be available in my area (there are some geeks who check Wal-Mart everyday and go to "all 4 of them" for the normal Waves, so this will be a hard task).

Here's some pics of my BAFs:

That looks really cool together.

Yeah, the one Walmart that was carrying em near me is HEAVILY hunted/scalped daily.

When the series 5 hit last year I was in DC for work. I called there and talked to a real nice assistant manager who looked up the info for me regarding the wave. She's the one who told me that it was basically a promotional wave and not all wallys would get them and the ones who did would only get a few cases to drive foot traffic:monkey2 She took my number and said she would call if she happened to find out any more came in the store before they went out to the floor for the guys who she said came in there every morning at 6am to find em. Needless to say, I never received that phone call.

Went straight to ebay a week later...:huh whaddaya gonna do

The Superman/Braniac 2-pack is tempting. . .very tempting. But I mainly am collecting for the major super hero teams, and I know that a Superman in the same sculpt, with brighter colors and regular, blue eyes will be released next year or so. Can't decide if I want to splurge or not.

Even though Giganta is great, Grundy is still my favorite BAF. I know a lot of people think he is too big, but he has been drawn pretty massive. The Long Halloween comes to mind.

I like Grundy but I wish his face would had been sculpted better. My favorite is Grodd.

So the BAF are:

Metamorpho
Gorilla Grodd
Salomon Grundy
Metallo
Despero
Kalibak
Atom Smasher
Giganta

Is that the correct order according to the wave? Am I missing any?

yeah, just switch around Despero (wave 4) and Metallo (wave 5) and that's the right order.

I didn't care for Despero, though he looks great (the character just doesn't do anything for me). I sold his pieces on EBay, but I think I miss him now. I've been trying to get Metallo, but as everyone knows, his prices are skyrocketing. I've just had the Head /Torso sitting around for months with no other pieces to go with it.

yeah, I am glad i had a friend grab all wave 5 for me...he almost couldn't find eradicator, but then some stroke of luck he managed to find one...

I do feel bad for the people who were unable to complete the wave and the BAF...i don't understand the logic Mattel has (or lack of)why have collector friendly site and not just sell your products on there...makes NO SENSE...

but again, sorry man...i know how it feels to not have something you want...esp. with collecting.

It has nothing to do with Mattel...its all about Walmart on this one.

No, Mattel bowed down to Wal-mart's demands of an exclusive wave made for cheaper than a standard wave. If Mattel would have stood up to Wal-mart we wouldn't have had to deal with this fiasco. I lucked out and found the whole set on one of my trips. I grabbed them all, built Metallo, and sold/traded off the rest that I didn't want.

I sure hope wave 10 will be much easier to get than wave 5 was. Joker better be the two-per case at least.

That's exactly my point. It was due to Walmarts demand. It was not a decision by Mattel...not exactly. If Mattel didn't "bow down", as you put it, we might not be even talking about a wave 10...or any others for that matter:rolleyes:

Like it or not, Walmart controls the market in this type of thing. Target, Meijers and TRU buy loads of stuff but no one compares to Wally's! And like it or not, they dictate to manufacturers what they want in order to stock their product. In this case, Walmart wanted its very own exclusive line just to agree to buy the regular line at all. This has been stated by Mattel and very well documented by many, many other manufacturers. And as I mentioned, the manager at the local store that carries them in my area told me that they wanted the line for promotions and never intended to carry the product in every store. Mattel knows and knew that but they can't dictate to a retailer of WMs magnitude where and how much product they better sell...on the contrary, its the other way around. Also keep in mind that WM is still fresh off of refusing to carry any JLU figs and was one of the first retailers to stop buying that DC line due to slow sells and bad distribution (totally Mattel's fault there) so another line at a higher price point with the same characters might not have even been a blip on WMs radar until they got Mattel to agree to produce the exclusive series 5.

In many cases, manufactures put together exclusive waves(product) to apease WM and get them to give them shelf space. If they refuse, WM won't buy any product at all. That can spell doom for the product if not financial ruin for many small companies. Even Hasbro has made and continues to make exclusive SW items for WM. Just yesterday they announced 3 new evolutions sets exclusive to WM. If this request by WM is not in their production schedule early, as was the case with Mattel, many companies get the exclusive produced at lesser known and/or less skilled production factories and the product comes to market below normal quality standards. This is done due to scheduling conflicts with already announced products and when WM ask for the product fast and cheap so they can bring it to market at a lesser price than anyone else.

So for all the crap they've done wrong, I wouldn't lay this one at Mattel's feet. This was WMs call...Mattel simply didn't have a choice but to answer. If not, DCUC might not have made it past series 3 or 4.

With Matty now they don't need to bow down to Wal-mart or anyone else to sell products. DCUC is the new Marvel Legends and is selling out everywhere. The line lived on for over a year without Wal-mart's support. There was no need for it. Mattel just got greedy. And we the collectors are suffering for it.

Well, hopefully Matty ups production of this Wave, so we can actually get hold of it. The Wave 5 was released early on when the line was taking off, so they did not have a decent production run.

But Mattel did lie to collectors and say that the Wal-mart wave would ship continually throughout the year. People were fine with the exclusive wave when that was said, but obviously things didn't end up like promised. That is what pisses me off more than anything was that Mattel flat out lied to us.

Wave 10 might even be harder to find because of how wave 5 was handled, so I'm not sure even larger numbers would help. They would need to make like 5 times as much for there to be any noticeable difference.
