An Idaho repub is just about as valuable an asset as a Utah Repub. If McCain lost you (the bread and butter of the repub party) he really is in trouble.

Whether or not McCain can pull in enough Reagan Democrats and Independents with this choice remains to be seen. Certainly he has taken the spotlight off Obama, at least for now. But there is nothing they can say or do that will convince me to vote for them now.

So good luck with that election thingy, John!

I think taxation is one small fish in a big ocean of issues.

I'm a republican, but McCain has no stance on the middle class at all. His agenda is business as usual and let the corporate CEOs continue to manipulate the game to seperate themselves from the rest of society.

I'm not interested in overtaxation to give free rides, but its becomming evident that taxbreaks to corporations is helping middleclass China more than middleclass America.

Middle Class = makes less than 2 Million dollars/year. He sure is right there. I make a hell of a lot less than 2 million a year. :lol

She has a 4 month old child with down syndrome and she wants to spend the next 4 years as VP? Wow, that doesn't sound good at all.

I'm pretty sure they'll find the best help for a growing disabled child. If she was a civilian would you expect her to quit her job or something?

Wow, that one came out of left field, and is a pretty stupid thing to say. Sexism (and most other negative -isms) know no party affiliations.

Your second sentence is true. History shows your first sentence is false. It is not coincidence that women and racial minorities vote Democrat.

The really sad thing is that you think we can afford Obama.

Why do you think an Obama presidency would be bad for the country? What do you think America will look like four or eight years later?

The big issue with her is that she dismissed Walter Monegan as Commissioner of Public Safety after his reluctance to fire an Alaska State Trooper who was her brother in law and going through a divorce with her sister.

No one will hold that against her, apparently that Trooper was battering her Sister. She's tough, if anything that will endear her to Women IMO.

Also...

She took down the Old Boys Oil Cronies in her State. And Won.

Has an 80% Approval Rating

Is a Genuine Reformist Maverick

Is not a Washington Insider

Is a Chief Executive with 5 children

Gave birth to a child (her youngest) she knew had Down's Syndrome

I'm an Independent but I think this is an interesting Choice. Seems she has a lot of gumption...

On the contrary to most people here I think McCain just assured himself the nomination. He didn't just pick a Republican, he picked a Conservative. When it's all said and done and the time comes to vote, most Republicans, even those who say they are going to sit it out because of the choices will vote because of the fear of what Obama will do to this country. And as someone else has posted, McCain just assured himself a sizable chunk of the fence sitters. I see lots of bellyaching on this site come Nov. 5 because Obama didn't win the election. If he does, I will make a post on here congratulating you people on your choice winning the election. Will anyone do the same for me?

I love knee-jerk reactionist politics, almost as much as people squandering votes - or just wasting their freedoms.

:sick

No rational feminist's going to vote for two pro-lifers, if that's who you mean.

the feminist vote isn't important there aren't enough of them to matter...it's the female vote and "fence rider" vote I was referring to.

Your second sentence is true. History shows your first sentence is false. It is not coincidence that women and racial minorities vote Democrat.

Part of that is that the democratic party is willing to compromise their values to allow segmented groups to bolster the numbers.

Take Rev. Jesse Jackson, he's a self proclaimed man of God yet he's willing to compromise his religion and began supporting abortion and gay rights. Why? Because there's power in numbers and he knows he can't forward his agendas without washing the backs of those groups.

IMO thats the biggest flaw of the Democratic party. You've got feminists and gay rights and minorities and drug users and unions and what not that are all swapping hand jobs to create one superpower. They expect relative conservatives like me that believe in helping the underpreviledged to accept baby killers and drug users and union bullies.

Edit: To be fair, the Repubs are the same. They expect a social conservative religious person like me to accept corrupt business men...

He didn't just pick a Republican, he picked a Conservative.

She gave state benefits to gay couples and authorized the largest budget in Alaskan history. It's complicated. I'm still researching her record.

Will anyone do the same for me?

To be completely honest it depends on whether McCain/Palin win or whether the GOP rigs another state like Ohio in 2004.

Because he disagrees with you that his religion forbids abortion and equality, obviously. Your reading of your book is not the only one.

So, based one experience, who is better fit to lead the country? A first-term Senator from Illinois, or a first-term Governor from Alaska?

And don't say VP doesn't matter when the potential President is 900 years old.

Great, that gives her appeal to the Homosexual vote.

.

Please explain.

Why do you think an Obama presidency would be bad for the country? What do you think America will look like four or eight years later?
Socialized health care (i.e., no health care at all), rampant illegal immigration, no school choice for parents who want their children to get a real education (as opposed to the tripe that passes for public education), $10/gallon gasoline, a much-too-soft approach to the war on terror, expansion of abortion "rights" laws to new obscene levels, significant tax increases. And those are just the things that spring immediately to mind.

Despite what democrats seem to believe, Obama is a very divisive candidate. Of course, the press (judging by Chris Matthews' orgasmic reaction to Obama's speech last night) will spin all of these things into wonderful positives.
