The real problem with this country is that no one takes responsibility for their OWN actions and decisions anymore. They just blame others for their shortcomings. It's a lot easier to point to the finger I guess than handle your own business.

Yes, but taking chemical short-cuts and creating a product that is no longer considered food and not disclaiming those facts is not really something the average Joe knows about. They might know that fast food is generally bad, but don't see the negative effects of it besides at their waistline.

This video here proves the superiority of McDonalds to all that farm grown crap some of you like to put in your body:

<object width="640" height="390"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube.com/v/4IGtDPG4UfI&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="https://www.youtube.com/v/4IGtDPG4UfI&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></embed></object>

All that organic crap gets moldy after 4 years while Mickey D's stays fresh!

Have you been paying attention to this thread? That doesn't happen. The first post is not (entirely) true. :gah:

This country has become ridiculously fat and corporations like Kraft and Mconald's should shoulder some of the blame. But this country is cheap, impatient, and stupid too, so go ahead and enjoy your 20 piece fried chicken by-product sludge with corn syrup based dipping sauce. I wouldn't even feed that stuff to my dog. :yuck

Have you read Fast Food Nation or The Omnivore's Dilemma or seen the doc Food Inc? Probably not, but it only empahsizes my point about most humans being uneducated and easily willed sheep.

Even if that pic isn't chicken slurry, it's pretty damn close to how McNuggets are made. Read a book. :gah:

How is it close? There are some pretty big differences to what you are suggesting. Are you saying they are close because of the texture?

Look at how most sausages are made. So does that make sausage McNugget because it has the same original form?

I have not read Fast Food Nation or The Omnivore's Dilemma. I don't read as much as I used to. However, I am familiar with them. I own Super Size Me, and I thought Eric Schlosser was a very cool guy (he's in the extras). The idea that one fast food burger contains meat from thousands of cows is pretty sick. And I agree with Eric that In-and-Out burgers are awesome! :drool :rock

My wife is on the mailing list for the local "art house" cinema and we were invited to a special pre-screeening of Food inc. I loved that movie and pretty much agreed with every word of it. It is definitely a movie that will be in my DVD collection. I will say this though I don't think it's as hard to find ammonia free ground beef as the movie implies.

I have not had a Chicken Nugget in years. I think they are generally pretty disgusting.

My only point is that I am for truth. Using distortions to make a point never helps the cause.

I think we can all agree that most McDonalds food is disgusting, but we can be honest about what is really in it and still make that point.
:exactly:

I agree with you, but if that pic jars one person to look into what the real facts are, it's kinda worth it. If this thread keeps one freak from going to McDonalds just once, it's a win in the most minuscule way for humanity--but it's still a win.

I was wasn't calling you a sheep directly Maglor--sorry bout that. That came off a little direct after I read it. And I'm glad you have a understanding of what's going on!

McDonald's is gross, but I love me some Wendy's. I've never watched Food, Inc, and don't care to. I know what it's about, and I don't care. I eat fairly healthy, but I'm going to have fast food every now and then, for no reason other than I love it. It tastes good and I deserve to treat myself for being a good boy. :D

Sounds like you don't know what it's about. You should see it.

It's about how all aspects of the food industry has become like a big factory. And the problems that leads to. It's not at all a commentary on how one should eat.

[Edit] What I mean is although it does urge the viewer to support organic and local farming, it is not about what an individuals diet should be.

I'm confusing it with the one about fast food...I forget it's name! :slap

Either way, I'm still not interested in watching documentaries related to food. It's a touchy subject for so many and not something I'm interested in getting into because it's not a concern of mine. I have no attachment or real opinion on the matter outside of what I eat, buy, and do.

Super Size Me. :wave

Although that one's not really about diet either. It's about corporate responsibility vs. personal responsibility.

They are both great documentaries, and quite entertaining. If nothing else, they have made me want to support regional places more than massive chains.

All food is starting to suck, not just Mcdonalds. Nothing is really good anymore.

I try to eat a variety of different things but it ALL tastes the same. Fruit gets old, vegetables get old, junk food gets old. I don't see how anyone could eat Mcdonalds on a monthly basis, let alone weekly or daily. I might go once a year but even then that's too much for me.

But this applies to other things too. I'll be damned if I'll sit there and stuff my face with helping portions of vegetables or eat fruit until I can't stomach it anymore. I wouldn't do that with ANY food group either.

The key is moderation, it would help if this stuff didn't taste like ____ though. Plus you have to worry about pesticides, processed ____, bacteria, quality control, consistency, etc. I'm sure food was much better years ago.
