My family is on me hard-core about a second opinion they say they don’t trust the doctors and that my kidney should not have to come out only the tumor needs to be removed.

I am unable to convince my family that the kidneys are nothing but super vascular organs and that the only treatment for this kind of tumor located inside the kidney is a full removal of the kidney which acts as the cure hence why no radiation and chemotherapy are needed.

They are not buying it lol

I mean if a second opinion could be gotten while you're waiting for the Cardiologist to assess whether you need the stent then perhaps you could do so if it'll make your family happy. But otherwise you're probably right (that the first one is right)

That's what we'll call it -- Balding Dudes + Dolls Retreat!

In Ireland!

So does that make it an "Erin Go Bald" retreat?

I'm 100% Irish and going bald so count me in lol...

2nd opinion couldn't hurt. Unless of course its a different opinion.

I think I'd prefer to lose a kidney than to go through Chemo in any way, shape or form.
I agree - provided the doctors told me that my other kidney looked in great shape. But then nothing's guaranteed even if they do.

Organ removal is inherently frightening for family members; only you in tandem with your medical practitioners can make the call, but there's something to be said for nuking it from orbit in order to be sure.

If possible a second opinion while you're waiting couldn't hurt, as others have said, on the other hand I can see why no one wants to wait too long.

Thank you everyone for your excellent responses.

The way the surgeon put it to me was this way.

He said absolutely go to the best hospital in NYC and get your second opinion there and he said the only outcome is that the kidney will be removed there instead of with him.

He said I have 2 options.

1. Remove the kidney and get cured.
2. Don’t remove the kidney and don’t get cured.

Your current medical prognosis and journey made me revisit my current estate plan should something unexpected occur and/or if I'm about to depart the present mortal coil.

Perhaps, I reached a point of existence where I don't have any necessity to prolong my stay if I experience a major medical ailment/incident. My current estate plan remains as is. However, I admit I am tired at times and weary of the future. I'm fortunate and not fortunate in that I have no spouse let alone children asides from a few immediate family members.

Chemo is harsh based what I observed first-hand among family and friends.

Again, get the second opinion and make an informed choice for yourself.

I guess it’s all going to JAWS lol

There are plenty of Hulks! :panic:

Not one from EG either lol

I know which one I would pick.

Do you get to keep the kidney? Will you gift me that ? I could use it when I get around to making Cannibal Campout Part 2: The Revenge of Joe the Disfigured Cannibal lol

Some rando member rocks up and reckons his kid is sick from living in a moldy house and the board rallies to gift him loads of cash.

Some rando new company claims they're making a John Lennon doll with a stainless steel endoskeleton and the board can't preorder fast enough.

Then a fellow freak who's been around for a decade says "free awesome stuff!" and the board be like

When did that happen? Was it a scam?
LoL yeah this guy rocks up about 5 or 6 years ago - I forget what he was into collecting-wise, but he was around for a bit talking the talk - and then he starts a donate thread with this sob story about his kid developing some hideous condition thanks to an aircon system spilling invisible mold spores into his bedroom that'll cost thousands to get fixed. He provided hospital receipts and everything. People were sending him money left right and centre, and Dave + Sideshow donated a Balrog statue for auction with all proceeds going to this guy, who takes the money and, *poof* like that, he's gone.

I forget how he was called out as a scammer, but there was no doubt about it, he played pretty much the whole board. I might see if I can dig up some archival posts - I can't even remember his name.

I’m stressed that i’m going to be forced to gift over $4,000 in collectibles to someone who’s never heard of Uncle Bob lol

It’s probably more like $5,000 :panic:
