Nah, I'm gonna go with Maglor on this one it's just the overexposed lighting against the white of his face. Move along, move along.

Re: Medi + DX = Medix

Honestly, I've never seen what all the hype over the Medicom Bats has been about. The headsculpt has always looked off to me. I think the DX is the only way to fly.

I will respectfully agree to disagree (soften filter and contrast used to bring up the whites, the exposure level doesn't match Bats, Look at the hair) and just add, what difference does it make? shop or no shop ..beautiful figures.

Yes this place has gone crazy.

To each his own, but I think the Medi head sculpt is the best likeness out of all the TDK Batman (HT V1, HT DX, Medicom).
Mind you this one has been widened and repainted, but the sculpt itself really shines IMO:

Re: Medi + DX = Medix

:panic: That is much better than I thought it was. Damn, please don't start me looking for Medi bats now. :panic:

Don't worry about it.

1. What must people don't understand is, to achieve that great look you have to completely widen and stretch the face and then finally paint it. As far as box fresh stock figures go, the Hot Toys DX Batman is still the best when it comes to sculpt and paint apps.

2. When Adam reveals his TDK headsculpt, all the people (with the exception of maybe Thrustmaster, he seems to have a genuine love for the Medicom head, which is good to see) that claimed to just love the Medicom head so much will sell their medicom heads off and quickly forget about it.

1. 100% correct

2. 90% correct - I believe Thrustmaster has expressed strong interest in Adam's TDK head also.

As of today, modded Medicom is the best option for achieving the closest to screen accurate look. And when Adam releases his version, it will pretty much certainly overtake he modded Medi in terms of screen accuracy

Rismo is the sole reason. His painting techniques match Hot Toys quality.

I thought it was the original suit....

Re: Medi + DX = Medix

I'm not even sure there's such a thing as screen accuracy anymore. This whole hobby, specifically when it comes to Batman and The Dark Knight feels muddled. Batman and The Joker look different throughout the film, so what is movie accuracy? Begins is notorious of this. In some scenes Batman looks perfect, other times he looks like a fat blithering idiot. Which is right?

It could be the lighting on Batman cowl in a scene, or the angle from which the characters are shot.

Obviously the old heads from 2005 (Hot Toys, Medicom etc.) and early 2008 (Hot Toys V1 Joker, Medicom Joker) aren't quite there when it comes to accuracy but you can't tell me that these recent heads of late looks significantly better than the other when it comes to Hot Toys, Adam's, Medicom, BobbyC's or whatever. Hell, today some member even mistook one for another, that's how nuts this has become.

Hot Toys perfectly captured that weird baby mouth that Christian Bale makes in some scenes. I'm sure Adam's will depict a certain scene as well from all of his great references. MRM has made some crazy interrogation Jokers. I could go on and on.

So again, what is accuracy. What's closest to the props? There are hundreds of versions of a particular costume or device in these films. Stunt costumes, "hero costumes" etc. It's impossible to own one accurate version that covers everything, so they're all wrong. Our collectibles will never be either real close nor too far off.

Not everyone has professional film lighting like we see in the films, in fact I'm willing to bet nobody here, myself included has that kind of crap. Light also has ALOT to do with our perception of things. Suppose Thrustmaster completely destroyed his Batman's facial features with lighting, would it still look as good? Probably not. But he knows his ____.

I just don't understand accuracy anymore, I really don't. We've come a long way from some awful crap (DCD microheads on huge bodies, odd looking muppet V1 Jokers). There have been significant improvements all around from companies and various customizers but it still doesn't seem like it's enough.

I long for the time when we had those spec/pics of the Bank Robber Joker back in 2008. That was a great, it was the only time pretty much EVERYONE agreed that was THE headsculpt and overall fantastic figure. It was a great period, everything just felt right.

Now, a million different variations later (starting with the ____ing DX crap), people still want MORE and will seek out more.

Collectors on this forum used to believe in things, value (sentimental/nostalgia/memories), feelings, collectiblity etc. but now it's about the almighty accuracy which will always make something obsolete.

To make it frank, it makes me angry to see what 1/6 The Dark Knight collecting has become.

The concept behind well done realistic 1/6 action figures is pretty much dead and in it's place is a desire to own little 1/6 MEN to an insane degree.

The Batman loving, action figure toting child from yesteryear in me weeps, the adult collector in me is confused. I think things have gone too far, yet I can't back those claims up.

Re: Medi + DX = Medix

I think instead of using the term "screen accurate" people need to adopt the more correct term of "scene specific." More often than not, costumes, make-up, etc., change from shot to shot despite how hard the script supervisor (and their assistant(s)) is busting their ass. So when one person claims "this is screen accurate" someone can come in with a frame from the same film where it looks different, because it actually is.

Re: Medi + DX = Medix

Thats a very good post DiFabio.
Whilst I don't question some peoples obsessive behavior when it comes to Batman collecting, I certainly do understand your point. It has stopped being fun and started being OCD. Personally I have never been obsessive to the fine detail of some of the folks here. I couldn't possibly count the amount of money I have spent on collectibles, rare items and props over the years (some original Empire Strikes Backs storyboards recently found their way to my home). So I'm not one to judge.

But hand making Joker socks and ties for example takes this to an entirely different level. But I think that its cool. I'm not interested myself in such detail/accuracy, but I enjoy reading and watching people who are interested. The bottom line for me is this, whatever makes you happy, if you enjoy it then its worth it.

But I agree with you, I find a strange obsessive almost negative tone of late around these parts. Maybe its just me? But everyone should lighten up a bit? Whats the point if we don't enjoy what we are doing. The world outside is ____ enough.

And I have a confession to make. I didn't think TDK was great, Begins was ok, I thought Ledger was great.
