I've always seen him as tiny. No taller than mid thigh to Obi wan at full height.

If I can make the SS body smaller I think I might be happy with it.

The big plus of the SSC Yoda (over the Medi) is that his legs are fully articulated. So just pose the SSC Yoda on the ArtFX base and folds his legs. I have him posed that way on the SSC log and the body doesn't look as tall.

I got mine on Friday. Here's a couple shots before he gets sent to Mike.

I have just started to collect 1/6 scale star wars from the original trilogy and cant decide on a yoda.... :gah:

it seems there are a few to pick from? two or three? from SSC with a new one coming and this Medicom one?

does anyone own them all and would be so kind as to share the pros and cons of each? :lol It would be much appreciated.

Thanks

The Medi came out first.
It's pros:
Superior clothing and very nicely sculpted hands and feet. Very nice head sculpt but a bit too big to be in scale with other 1/6 figures.

It comes with:
the lamp he steals from Luke
The food stick he eats on
His cane
Necklace

The cons:
Minimal articulation (ball jointed hands and head)
Essentially a statue
A bit out of scale (too tall and wide)
Head is just a bit too big

SS ESB yoda was released next.
The pros:
Super articulated body
Much better scale
Great accessories

Comes with:
Four sets of hands
Two sets of feet
Cane
Log stand to sit on
Articulated Snake
Necklace(a bit long but can be adjusted

The cons:
Very thin gauze like robe
Cane is a bit too long
Fatter hands with less character
Headsculpt not spot on.

SS Prequel Yoda not released yet.
Review to follow.

All in all its about your personal preference. Some feel the Medi nails it and are happy with a static pose. Some love the SS for its diversity in options for posing. Both are a good value.

My personal opinion is that the Medi nails the head sculpt but fails in scale. I sold my Medi after having it for a couple years after I got the SS. The reasons are more options. I can swap a head sculpt to be happy with the face easily. I like that the SS has articulation and so many choices and the scale is great.

The new yoda will most likely have the same body as the SS ESB so they should be in the same scale. You just have to decide if you want an OT yoda or a PT yoda with two head sculpts and a lightsaber.

I'm getting both. Love me some Yoda. He's like Mr. Miagi in a galaxy far far away.

Thank you so much, this was more than helpful :)

I agree on the looks of each, And I think I see more of the original trilogy in the Medicom, but like you say he is a bit big. :gah:

I planned on posing him alongside the HT bespin Luke so i really want that dagobah look and feel about him, I may pick up a Medi and the older SSC just to compare in hand, I think the newest looks great also I just cant decide :dunno

Your reply was really helpful, Thanks.

Cool. If you look back a page you'll see a lot of pics of the two if them together.

Ah yes, thanks.

The scale of the one in the middle looks spot on I would say? but the medi head is what I am looking for but overall he is just too big :gah::slap

Hmmm :dunno

Are those your pics? you certainly do love a Yoda :lol I would say he is my favorite character from the whole franchise, so i really want a good representation of him.

Honestly, at this scale, most of us can't even tell until pictures from the movie are used to compare.
Plus for being small at a 1/6 scale already, you'll lose much of the detail by going smaller so unless you're an accuracy nut, the medi is perfectly fine.
Plus yoda seem to fluctuate in size anyway depending on movie.
I don't think he is as critical as a darth Vader who is the same size as average figures.
The main thing is, Vader should be big and imposing, yoda should be little like a puppet.

If you're planning on doing mods, the medi looks great, very cool looking.
If you want just stock, I think the kotobukiya looks the best out of the three unless you want to wait for the new SS yoda which I think is the best stock yoda.

What are the odds of a medicom figure that's actually bigger than the SS version :lol

I'm in the market for a yoda, and still can't decide which one to get as well :duh

Not plucked up the courage to mod any figures yet :( but I get what you are saying and I agree, I am holding out for the deluxe vader from SSC, and I think I am going to go with the Medi Yoda or the kotobukiya in the meantime, there is a few on ebay here in the uk which means no customs charges or high postage, I will keep my eye on the newer release Yoda too.

Thanks

Yes. These are my pics. The koto is my favorite so far.

Sometimes, you can get lucky if you're patient in winning a medi yoda.
I have won twice and got it for $50.
I had to win this twice cause the first one never responded and never shipped it so I had to file a dispute.
The 2nd one was problem free.
So if you can win one cheap, then there will be less worry on modding.
That's why I was optimistic modding mine cause if I screwed up, it's just $50.

If you are set though on keeping it stock, I would wait for the new ss version cause a stock medi is not impressive in hand. Too toyish looking.
Modded though, it's one hell of a difference.
Here's my modded medi I repainted myself.
