I still find it mind boggling that ANYONE with eyes can think that the SS baby faced monstrosity is more accurate or better than this. This may have a few issues (eye paint mostly) but its the best 1/6 Yoda sculpt we have seen on a figure. Sure the new upcoming SS figure looks like it could be ok, but that's 100% the prequel CG Yoda.

Now back to Yoda, I actually have two of these Medis, I started to repaint one about a year ago, Marf has an excellent customised version, so good, I just stopped working on mine when I saw it!
It's the eyes that really elevate this figure. I tried using decals, which were not bad, but now I think I will repaint the eyes completely by hand or try and replace them with glass eyes, I'm just trying to source the right size and colour.


these were two rough WIPS (I abandoned it mid paint), one with decals in for pupils, just placed in there not set or anything...
top one looks a bit blue for some reason.

Those are great paint ups rory the one on the top hue wise is sort of accurate to the lighting in ESB Forrest scenes but I agree that the bottom might be more accurate to he puppet. I'd finish up that one if you were gonna add hair etc.

I think the decals for the eyes work and looks perfect... No need to reinvent the wheel on that.

Have to admit I always thought the Medi Yoda portrait would take a lot of beating for this scale, and so far I still do!

IMO the other attempts don't even come close in terms of accuracy or realism it's just the paint that sucks sideshow is better in paint but the sideshow paint sucks too so it's really a moot point.

Yup. The SS sculpt looks like a baby bobble head Yoda. It's like they didn't even look at ref pics of the puppet when sculpting it. Thing is, Ive become to realise on this board there are many levels of collectors. Some really cant see the aesthetic difference between high end low end, accurate sculpt or bad sculpt. It's a rose tinted glasses type of scenario. They see what they want to see for a multitude of reasons, then defend that view to the death.
And good luck to them I guess, I wish I could be so easily pleased, I would have saved myself a load of cash and just went with cheaper options (SS).

This Medi isn't perfect, but it actually resembles the Yoda puppet from TESB. With a little bit of modding it can look amazing. Marf masters is fantastic as are several others. Look forward to see where you got to Raymond.

Yeah, the SS version is pretty bad. I was hopeful it was gonna be good, but i've hoped a lot of SS figs would've turned out good. The new one i have no interest in cause it's prequels. Would be interesting to see a 2.0 of Yoda from medi, 7 years later with improvements. That said my medi Yoda looks fantastic next to Luke.
