those are all older releases though :dunno

newer Medi figs like GB said are scaled better with HT and SS. The UU Jack saprrow which is on a Medi body is the same height as the HT DX Sparrow. Though they aren't out yet, I'm sure that the Cowboys and Aliens figures will be appropriately scaled as well.

I agree that up until recently Medi figures have been pretty short, but it isn't so any more so why keep bringing it up?

plus it's not like it matter for this release anyway since Ray Park is one short dude :lol

Well, even some recent have been out of scale... or at least the droids were which was a deal breaker for many. But imagine if Medicom keeps to their current scaling the issue will go away.

However, looking at the new Vader from them it kind of looks like its another shorty.

I don't know why people try to bring it up and act like its not been an issue for years or act like its peoples imagination. Maybe its brought up for the same reason you decided to reply? Its a discussion board.

I understand about the droids. I thought we were just talking about the figures on the RAH bodies though. If not then my mistake :)

And while I wouldnt be surprised if Medi's 2.0 Vader is shorter than his proper 13" or so I don't think he'll be shorter than 12" which will still be bigger than the previous versions

I get that but I didn't say that the bodies hadn't been an issue for years. I said "up until recently." I know the bodies were an issue. I own the Medi Jack Sparrow and I know it is short. I'm not a stranger to Medi's history

Boom! Headshot!
:lol
No, not so much. Won't know for sure until it's released

Yeah, Vader's height is just a guess on my part seeing him in relation to other figures; but I've yet to see a clear side-by-side that would say for sure how big he is.

Like I said, you wouldn't go wrong with this if you're on the rocks whether to choose between this and the SS version. I sold my SS last year, you just gotta love that tense, non-toyish / non-drugged look on the medi. i also like how the hood drapes over his head.

For those asking re scale / size comparison, last I checked, medi is taller than the SS version. here are some comparison shots, sadly no clear side by side photos to compare height:

the real deal breaker really for me is the hs on the SS as well as how the hood was constructed. medi though is a fragile dude.

Can someone post a side by side comparison picture of SSC and Medicom Darth Maul lightsabers?

Anyone?

I definitely want a Darth Maul in my collection, but I'm worried about how well he fits in with SSC figures? Also worried I'll fork $200+ and have the body break on me.

Since he's apparently a straight release, how would you guys rate him compared to today's 1/6 figures?

I don't have SSC Maul, but I do have the Medi. It's a great figure, never had any body issues myself. Still stands up to todays releases IMO. The head sculpt is awesome, neck is a bit long but with all the clothing that's not an issue.

Hey!!! Rorywan, welcome back man! Your contributions have been sorely missed :duff

I have this on PO and my Flex's will complete next month (with AVENGERS Hawkeye) and I cannot wait for him to arrive! I can deal with the long neck as I will probably keep his cloak on, I just think that this is such a cool and intimidating look for him.

I went with the SS one. Pick it up for $100 shipped. I passed on this and vader due to size issues with my 1/6.

:wave

You won't regret it mate. He looks awesome on display. I have him posed with two SS battle droids and they look great together. The head sculpt really looks like Ray Park.

:hi5:

I have the original release Medi Maul and love it. My brother had the SSC one and there are some great things about both but ultimately Medi is my choice.

As far as size goes, Ray Park is only 5'9" so the figures height is perfect. He is the same height as the sideshow but SSC head is huge. Plus it has a blank expression that I'm not fond of. Medi has an articulated head and neck instead of SSC just the neck. You can really get a menacing look on Maul by tilting the head and neck down.

Mine has the old body and was brittle and broken when I bought it but with a few well placed screws it's really tough and can now withstand the rigors of dynamic posing. I never liked the SSC buck bodies. They seem too boxy to me.

The clothing, belt and saber from SSC are far superior to Medi except the boots. Real leather belt and pointed saber tips are a really nice touch. I do like the Medi robe better then SSC but over all the accessories from sideshow win out.

I do like the fact that Medi has seperated the hand/wrists from the rest of the glove for more enhanced articulation.

The SSC stands always win over Medi.

Here is a recap:
Medi
Robe
Boots
Head Scale
Head sculpt
Head Articulation
Hand articulation

SSC
Clothes
Belt
Saber
Stand

I'm going to say only thing better about the SS version is the saber and belt. I like everything else on the medicom MUCH more.

while I've never had either in hand (going to get the medi most likely), I agree with the above just judging from pics.

the only thing I'm not sure of is the clothes since I've never had either in hand before. I generally like medi's stuff except for their lack of leather/pleather goods for belts and such so I'm sure I'd have no issues with the medi figure as a whole

Here's a stupid question:

Is the pre-order for a new version of Maul, not just a re-release?

Even though I'm in a semi-permanent state of "shrinking the collection", the idea of having a new Vader and Maul to go with my Fett is incredibly appealing.
